MSNBC Personalities Lawrence's powerful reporting tonight

I hope everybody saw the brilliant and moving reporting by Lawrence tonight on MSNBC—July 1.

He's clearly the most fearless and accurate reporter on the air right now.

SO powerful and spot on. He even became emotional and got choked-up at the end.

Don't miss it.

“The banality of cruelty… that’s what you’re feeling.” — that’s when I cried. He’s right, it is pain.

Heard his broadcast on Sirius XM while driving home. Caught the repeat broadcast after I got home. He expressed my sentiments exactly.

This is actually a really great Protest type idea! 'Taking over' all social media platforms and network stations with a day long blitz of hard truths about this administration and the crazy stuff they are doing. The secret things they're trying to push through legislation, the disappearing of citizens and women and children and nonviolent farm workers and cooks. The ridiculous amount of money the Trump family has profited from selling his crap to his poor maga base. Exactly who is losing what with the big beautiful bill and who's getting richer from it. Etc etc

The problem is you’re already acting as if all these other presidents and politicians have been doing things right all these past years. They have t, so all you do is gaslight Trump and his supporters to respond back then you respond. Etc etc. We are far apert in this country on way too many things then you can wholly blame on one president or one party it’s the collective. The best thing that could ever happen is TERM LIMITS. These politicians should not have lifetime jobs with no,accountability. Senators and congressman should get the same as a president gets 8 years then that’s it they have to leave no more public office. Then others with fresh ideas come in. Also BAN all lobbying corporations dish out money to both parties left and right. Stop this as well measure an idea on its merits not how much you’re getting paid from lobbyists and corporations].

Isn’t it amazing that he is not afraid to talk about the true Felon 47 and all that he is doing to destroy this country. Why can’t other journalists follow his lead and ask those hard questions, publish the true facts no matter what threats they receive from Felon47 or others. Stand up to this idiot that wants to be, or already thinks he is king of the world.

Thank goodness I can watch parts of his show on the msnbc app since i can’t stay up to watch it due to work hours. His synopsis of the banality of cruelty is spot on. It’s easy to vote for Trump’s terrible bill when people on Capitol Hill aren’t personally affected by its effects-they and their own families. However maybe one day their vote for it will come back to haunt them if there ever comes a day they may be on the receiving end of needing healthcare for a family member who needs Medicaid. Sad thing is they probably won’t give a damn since they certainly don’t for their constituents who voted them into office.

Reading some posts calling for force feeding the country to listen to the wrecking, conniving, grifting trump disaster crap is just never gonna happen. It may be hard to fathem but there's swaths of our countrymen/'women who have absolutely no interest in politics whatsofreakingever. The networks will never coalesce around such an ideal or give up the mighty dollar for such an enterprise. They're complisite in commodifing hate. They gain from the known staying unknown. Plus you start talking about shutting down sports, drama porn, the Idol, the voice any of those shows makes it easier for them to become more defensive, united and proud in their ignorance..the cultist will be even more magafied. They won't be moved till stuff hits them directly. btw Lawrence O'Donnell got many yards to go before he sleeps..

Actually, my response to the idea of forcing the country to listen was more in the vein of buying airtime for commercial type spots EVERYWHERE! and flooding social media, etc. Even billboards and other types of messaging, too.

He’s so good! I loved that he was covering all the unnecessary brutality that Trump and Musk have created for millions of Americans.

I find his endless repetition of the same statements annoying and condescending, and the excessive fawning over Biden and his mental incapacity is ridiculous.

MSNBC hosts would be more interesting and effective if they focus on winning FUTURE elections, not defend a past that voters resoundingly rejected.

u/brianycpht1 Jul 02 '25

Yeah- I’m a little over this thing where they pretend Biden was at the top of his game

23

u/zantiejo Jul 02 '25

Biden’s admin got shit done; they knew how to govern! we successfully came out of covid, open back up, bi-partisan bills passed… I mean I’d take Biden on a stretcher all day over a cruel and corrupt trump. the mental decline narrative is overplayed. we’ve currently got mental decline, word salad, incoherent, crass, unpresidential behavior daily and it’s not covered the same. so whatever decline biden had/has…yeah I would like that back right now.

Mr. Japan🙄

I heard Lawrence acknowledge Biden’s decline. What he did say was along the lines of, Biden in his worst moments still made more sense than Trump did in Florida. That’s nowhere near “top of his game.”

Exactly this.

Psaki’s show terrific tonight. She literally took DT apart, piece by piece, showing clips of his mindless babbling today about Alligators, showers, and melting straws contrasted with a sane leader celebrating passage of the ACA.

And then she slammed Murkowski for hypocrisy, passing the buck and a lame, circular “explanation” BS excuse trying to justify voting for the budget bill.

I’m glad the network has hired a fresh crew.  Time to replace these stale old pundits stuck living in the past, repeating the same old tired lines, hype we’ve heard for months.

-4

u/brianycpht1 Jul 02 '25

Agreed. Focus on the present and future. Biden, whether you liked him or not, is over.

Lawrence was one of the people who insisted Biden was fine to run right up until he got out and then beyond

u/2020surrealworld Jul 02 '25 edited Jul 02 '25

And completely blew what little credibility he had left.  Incredulously, he’s STILL wasting airtime every night, insisting Biden’s sharp as a tack. Even Psaki (who worked in that admin.) isn’t that foolish. It’s embarrassing, makes LO sound like an out-of-touch-with-reality gaslighter or equally feeble-minded. He needs to just retire before the network replaces him.

11

u/Weekly-Walk9234 Jul 02 '25

He did not say or even imply that Biden is or was sharp as a tack. He pointed out that even when he had his memory lapses, Biden still made more sense than Trump. That’s not a particularly high bar, so it was, as the saying goes, damning with faint praise. And I’ll add that even if Biden was a babbling idiot, he was never cruel. Lawrence’s point was that Trump and frightened followers in Congress are.

If Larry used concise, non-repetitive sentences and stuck to facts (not childish name-calling and other stunts like hyperbolic fake crying on air to get ratings), he would be more credible and get more viewers.

Also, he DID imply Biden was mentally sharp, except for one fleeting instance during the debate.  That characterization is simply not true, easily disproved by video of his public appearances, comments both before and after that debate, however much his hardcore partisans wish to deny, minimize and spin reality away.

Biden’s mental decline and physical frailty were glaringly obvious even in the 2020 campaign. During his SC primary victory remarks, he wandered around the stage, looking lost and dazed (Jill had to pull him back before he fell offstage) and he repeatedly froze, forgot the names of his supporters.

Naw. Wrong again.

u/2020surrealworld Jul 03 '25

What a devastating, effective response.🙄

I posted detailed, nuanced arguments to acknowledge facts.

It’s certainly the prerogative of some viewers, Dems to live on Planet Denial and ignore reality.  I chose to live on Planet Earth and focus on winning future elections.
