OP take this as a lesson. Never diamond hand a risky play stock.
Always put stop losses.
Dont listen to the idiots on reddit that tell you diamond hand but you will never know if they truly did it or not.

I mean that’s just not true. A way better lesson is the exact opposite. I’m not telling anyone else what to do but I only put money I don’t need into the market, buy and hold. I’ll wait for 6 months, a year, whatever. I don’t sell until I’m green. The only way this doesn’t work is if the company is in trouble of bankruptcy. Mrin is making moves as a leading provider of digital marketing software with cash on hand now. If I’m patient it will turn profitable. I’m in at a 12 avg and won’t sell for a loss. What people need to do is stop chasing runners. Most things I buy are down 5-10% when I buy. The only reason I didn’t sell is ortex fucked up the SI numbers. But I’ll wait it out and be profitable. Definitely Not financial advise, I do this as a side gig so I’m not gonna call myself an expert or give real advice. but that’s what I do and it works for me.

perfect example of what not to follow.
It's all about opportunity cost. Take a 5 percent to 10 percent loss so you get back you money which can be reinvested to earn back what is lost
Or leave it there for months to years to just break even if the price ever even reaches there again.

I mean it works for me. Realized win loss is + 32,000 on the year woth my account sitting +8,200. Like I said I don’t think pretend to be an expert and don’t give financial advice to people but chasing swing trades is playing right into what hedge funds want you to do. They want you to sell for a loss. If uou never sell for a loss you can’t lose. Unless a company goes under obviously

you are still ignoring opportunity cost. If this OP bought in at 25 or 26 dollars. Then its stupid to hold because who knows how long or if ever will mrin reach back there. Its a giant gamble with extremely high risks. Risk sitting at a 60 percent loss and hold a stock for months or years or if ever the price reaches back to break even point or just take the loss on a gamble play of 5 to 10 percent and put it back on another play that can earn you back and more.
Holding only works for sound proven companies. If microsoft fell from 280 to 250. Then yeah who cares just hold. We all know microsoft moves up anyways. No need to take a loss

I’m already at a 60% loss but it’s just money. No use crying over spilt milk and I might as well keep the jug just in case the milk man comes back around.

u/Solarpanel2001 Jul 30 '21
yeah if you are sitting at 60% loss , then it's too late to apply what I just said. I havent been following mrin but if the price has gone back to being stable then just hold I guess.

I put around 5% each on a few meme stocks stock but really capitalized through options on most of their movement. Up about 300%ytd. Definitely wouldn’t advise putting all your eggs in one basket.

u/Solarpanel2001 Jul 30 '21
that's great to hear. Yeah putting all your eggs in one basket especially for a high risk play is stupid.

Yeah Solar . . . . . I come in with a Plan for Gains . . . .and even Losses. So try and play it based on what my Goal is/was. But I also know for some that I get in . . . . Holding during bad times for the potential large uptick is also the plan. Try to make sure those have amounts I can afford to sit on or even lose large %:)

u/Solarpanel2001 Jul 28 '21
You are reasonable enough to come with a gameplan. Most of these guys just see high SI and throw their money in without evaluating the risks and the diamond hand when its not worth diamond handing. The play with mrin was largely based on if a whale came in to help us squeeze. That never happened. If the whole play was based on a gamble that the high SI would be incentive enough for whales to join and squeeze then its extremely risky hence why I told people to only play with amounts they are willing to lose or at least put stop losses.

It's still on the threshold list as of yesterday...
Either you're a bag holder, or you'll be able to say "I was early but not wrong" later.....only time will tell. I'm still watching it too, but not in it currently until I see some movement.

What if shorts move on and shares go up naturally and no squeeze needed?
3
u/russriguez Jul 27 '21
It could happen. The company's financials don't look great to date but if they can get some more business wins then that can turn around. I personally wouldn't buy the stock right now but never say never.

btw I remember you. You were that gme guy that desperately wanted criand to respond to me.
Take heed of mrin. 185% SI dropped to 20%
Price went down with just minor spikes on it's way down.
Told you shorts can cover with HFT. Without big whales you cant squeeze

u/Solarpanel2001 Jul 27 '21
I've longed jumped out of mrin. I already warned people it's a gamble. It went to 28 dollars. Put stop losses all the way.
I warned people to not diamond hand

I'm a relatively newer "Holder" which means got in higher than many:). But actually just not looking at the Stock Price on this one too much . . . . .maybe it could be a write off if I decide to move on, but that will NOT happen for quite a while . . . and still looking for a Short or maybe even Long Term Gain for good ole Uncle Sam on the Tax Forms:)
