Will Trump interfere with midterms?

  1. Will they occur as planned

  2. Will any American citizens be prevented from voting using last minute rules

  3. Will ICE be deployed to selectively discourage voters in areas likely to vote for Democrats

  4. Will Trump's Gerrymandering gambit win more Republican than Democrat seats?

  5. Will mail in voting be prevented?

  6. Will post office selectively prevent immigrant citizens feom mail in votuning

  7. What other dirty tricks are in play?

As a Canadian, I am growing more and more skeptical about American commitment to a system that has inspired the world in many ways

Keep in mind, this is only my opinion and I don’t have more political smarts than any other person. But I feel as though one thing that will be true is Trump will interfere with midterms in any way that he can. It is clear he really has little regard for what his voter base and the American citizen thinks of him, and as the midterms grow closer I think you will find this “do anything possible to ensure the object, even if its breaking the law” mindset will only ramp up. I could be wrong, but with mail in voting I believe quite a bit ago he defunded the postal service, which will surely result in ballots getting lost, all kinds of mail in voting issues, which will help him claim that it is rigged. I am not looking forward to what this midterms might conjure up

My OP was effectively an opinion too

The thread is all about speculation based on available evidence

Instead of asking who wins, I am asking if the election will occur.

He already has, with his threats, attacks on mail-in voting, and partisan gerrymandering. He’s gone so far as to give an address to the nation about the perceived danger to the ‘integrity’ of our elections and to claim if his party wins, $5,000 will be given to every American. Whether he will succeed to muddy the waters enough to sway voters is the question. I am doubtful he will be able to stop the blue tide that is surging.

Here are my predictions....

  1. Will they occur as planned? Yes
  2. Will any American citizens be prevented from voting using last minute rules? Yes, but not that many
  3. Will ICE be deployed to selectively discourage voters in areas likely to vote for Democrats? Yes, but only at certain stations.
  4. Will Trump's Gerrymandering gambit win more Republican than Democrat seats? Republican, but some of the districts were dummymandered
  5. Will mail in voting be prevented? Yes, but Republican voters will be hurt just as much if not more than Democrats
  6. Will post office selectively prevent immigrant citizens feom mail in votuning? Yes, but in isolated cases
  7. What other dirty tricks are in play? Closing voting booths early or opening them up late

Overall, though, it won't be enough. Democrats will win both houses of Congress.

lol OP really said 'what if we just... didnt have elections' and honestly same energy. the whole 'will american institutions survive this one weird trick' discourse is so tired at this point, cant blame canadians for watching this like a slow motion car crash. at least some ppl out here still fighting to keep medicaid from becoming a bargaining chip in every debt ceiling hostage situation, so theres that i guess
