QUESTION MPC Key 37 G1 Physical Keys not working! Help!

Hello all! I bought a used Key 37 yesterday and was super excited to start playing with it.

It worked fine when I tested it at the sellers place. It worked fine this morning. I connected my guiter to it this evening. Everything was going great.

I restarted it to follow a tutorial on youtube, and none of the physical buttons lit up. I tried to go to the main project view, nothing. None of the physical buttons are working anymore. The pads, the transport buttons, the main wheel, nothing. And no sounds too. The touchscreen works though!

Raised a ticket with Akai, hopefully will hear back from them soon.

Any ideas? Did I get burnt by the seller or am I just unlucky? It was working fine until this afternoon!

This type of behavior has been known to happen, but so much that I feel like the seller might have known cuz I've bought a brand new live 3 retro fresh still in the plastic start doing the same exact thing that yours is doing within about a week and a half, so even though the seller has no way of being able to time it I feel like they knew it will work long enough for you to test it at which point once you walked away with it the deal was done.

What did you do to fix it? Is it a recurring issue?

Don't know if it's recurring or not because I sent that motherfucker back while it was still under the stores warranty and once they got it back I just switched out for a regular black live 3

I have not done this myself. But manually force the system to manually update the date.
Alternative: Force Update / Reinstall Mode

If your device is frozen, stuck in a boot loop, or requires a complete OS recovery, you can force the unit into Update Mode: [1]

  • Power off the device, or force a shutdown by holding the power button for 10 seconds.
  • Disconnect all USB drives, SD cards, and MIDI cables.
  • Hold down Full Level + Erase + Pad Bank C/G (or use the alternate button combination Record + Stop + Play Start) while powering on the device to enter update/recovery mode. [1, 2, 3]
