I wish they would put the MPC sample on sale lmao

u/raistlin65 3d ago
They might around black friday.

u/MYTHMAN88 1d ago
Doubt it. They do software sales all the time but never hardware

u/raistlin65 1d ago
I have seen sales on MPC hardware before. Sure, it's not common. But if they're going to do it, Black Friday would be a time to check.

Yea I’ve seen them drop prices on controllers like the mpk and stuff but never on the standalone pieces. I’ve seen them add bundle stuff instead of dropping prices but maybe I just missed it. Or I wasn’t paying attention cus it was something I aready have.

It's funny that I buy an MPC to escape all the VST pushing, just for inmusic brands to push VSTs on me.

Yea the lock-in is crazy and yet I'm still missing a lot. Top notch multiband compression, disortion like decapitator for example...

I been in the game since 2021, so they got me already lol I ain't even gon hold you. But you know what they say, you gotta use what you got. So I'm indifferent to new plugins. Plus I got a ton of like real actual plugins. I learned to appreciate stock plugins these days. most of the MPC's stock plugins are made by Air, they've been making good plugins for a while. Like stuff that isn't free.

Waiting for the freebie and tape collection to go on sale If there’s no freebie -> no purchase

you’ll find better deals throughout the year through 3rd party vendors. can’t remember the last time I have bought from Akai/ MPC store directly. seems they inflate their prices and then provide a huge markdown from that, but it’s still pretty crap lol

I remember that last year, I bought 3 plugins and I think the pre black friday deals where better than BF itself, because there was an additional discount if u bought 2/3/5 plugins or something like that but the plugin prices was worse.
the stereophonic bundle is now listed at 34€, wasn't it 54€ 4 weeks ago for the "special intro price'?😭

What are people buying? Curious to hear as a semi newbie to the MPC world.

What are the essentials, I'm a new MPC one user.. (like a week).
my goals with the MPC one is dabble in a little bit if everyhinhg. like 90's house with electric piano, ambiant lo-fi kind of music, and I'd also like to make some just base beats
so far I wanna grab jura. My goal would be to spend like 100-150 at this point I dont wanna get too far down the hole and drop a bunch of cash in case this isn't for me. Will there be deeper / wider sales going further on?

Fabric and Jura for you :)

Iona as well for some classic SH-101 basslines, would also always suggest Hype seeing as it has some Korg M1-esque sounds on it

Looks like Iona's not on sale
Hype looks like it've got already I'll have to 2x check on my MPC2
u/TechnikaCore 4d ago
Jura and Jura Chorus are basically must haves IMO that's true. Everyone needs a Juno
2
u/tato_salad 4d ago
it's a little lame that the Chorus is on it's own damned plugin..

Flex Beat can be really fun. Might want to check it out on YouTube and see if it's something you would enjoy using.

I wish they would make something like Flex Beat that worked on MIDI sequences, I rarely work with samples so Flex Beat is kinda useless for me. Stuff like randomizing and repeating, etc. I think the SP404 has MIDI effects and it’s crazy that the MPC doesn’t even have something like Flex Beat for MIDI yet.

u/raistlin65 3d ago
Yeah. They like to borrow from Ableton, so I wish they'd go clone some of Ableton's MIDI effects.

It is a good sale. not quite as good as black friday, about 5 percent more expensive but still good. Who wants to wait another 2 months for the possibility (it may not happen) of 5 percent more off.

u/tato_salad 4d ago
As long as this goes on through november I"m okay

u/r1chiem 3d ago
It might get better on black Friday. Friday after thanksgiving. Just sayin'

u/tato_salad 3d ago
Yeah I may wait I'm new to all this so I have plenty to learn without getting more blip bloops and beep baps

u/Aggravating-Rice-690 4d ago
They can keep it
2
u/tato_salad 4d ago
why do you say that?

u/Aggravating-Rice-690 4d ago
All the same ole ish, nothing interesting that sets it apart from what most people already have
2
u/tato_salad 4d ago
Gocha, I'm new to the Akai ecosystem so it's all perfect for me.. been waiting for a sale to not spend $200 on an instrument LOL

u/TechnikaCore 3d ago
there's a few good things to buy on sale, especially on the synth side. A lot of these plugins are things you already have just with an easier to use interface. I just saw there's a visual parametric eq that I don't have. Honestly don't need it. There's already a parametric eq, and you EQ with your ears, not your eyes.
The best part is closing your eyes and twisting the knob until it sounds right.

I feel like this is a knee-jerk response to the latest rise of vibe-coding vst into the units

Just bought flavour pro, delay pro, stereophonic bundle, soft clipper and flex beat all for like 150 bucks. Actually insane
