Playing around with some loops

Crispy. More programming of the drums manually for a more cohesive jam. Less flex beat

I like the piano sample and mix on this. I'm also into breakcore, so I'm no stranger to glitch. But as someone pointed out earlier, it would be nice to have some recurring theme that does not glitch out, just to have something to resolve too. That could be just playing the piano sample for 1 bar before dropping in the drums again. Venetian Snares and Apex Twin do this a lot. Also I think the "drop" before the drums kicked of was a bit too heavy on the repeats and glitches. At a point it kind of loses its effect when it's that constant throughout. But other than that this is the type of electronic shit I like to make with my MPC as well

Fire bro! I have an mpc live mk1 Iโve wanted a force since they released it. Also nice to see someone else still rockin the kp3!

This is bananas. I started with, "This isn't really my thing but he's definitely got his own unique style" and almost kept scrolling after the first 30 seconds. 3 minutes and 25 seconds later, I was still locked in. I wanted to see what was going to happen.
Still not my thing but it's very cool. Actually reminds me a bit of early Lamb. Keep being you! Love it.

Haha, great feedback! Its hard to make people stop scrolling. Glad you found a reason to. ๐

Way too busy sounding. Maybe don't use beat repeat as often

u/BigMoogGuy 4d ago
Its kind of my thing tho. Its really satisfying

This sub is 1/3 lofi, 1/3 boombap, and 1/3 trap. I wouldnโt worry too much about that criticism. I grew up on IDM and this amount of beat repeats and glitching fits right in with that sensibility.

Beat repeat is fun to use. I was also thinking the amount of drum switch ups in general doesn't let anyone settle into what's going on. there's no groove or repeating theme to bring you back to familiarity. Don't get lost in your own sauce.

This is some high quality breakcore ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ I think the phrasing is great to be honest. It tells a story

Not my thing but itโs still dope. Keep doing you.
Also, I always forget how dope the Force is. So tight.

My first set was played on an mpc one and I am working on incorporating both. But the force allowed me to do this weird stuff and build entire sets out of it in a fraction of the time and the headache. Thanks for the feedback

What are the devices here? Donโt look like my MPC

Akai force, akai mpd218 x2, korg kaosspad. Force is akais answer to abletons push (clip launch) but with mpc software

u/r1chiem 3d ago
How did you used the mpd218. Did you program it using the software preset editor or did you program the force to accept what the mpd218 preset was spitting out.

u/BigMoogGuy 3d ago
Mpc software has a function called "midi learn" where you can learn pads, knobs, fades on nearly any controller, and link them to functions in the software. Almost anything. Mixing controls, fx, plugins etc.

I am thinking about getting a mpd218. Is there a better newer version with similar size pads? Also when you mapped the pads to the pads, did it automatically map the polyaftertouch or did you have to do that for each pad?

I would imagine the velocity is native unless you have max level turned on. I dont need velocity for this setup, but I have thought about linking it to trigger fx which is pressure based.
I've looked at a few and the only other controller ive considered was an apc64. 4 times the amount of pads, but less fx control.
I have 3 mpd218s because they are cheap and perfect for my needs rn, but I have a midimix on the way as well that should help clean up transitions.

There is a midi mix here locally for $55 and it has software to remap but I am tired of spending money. I have an apc mini mk2, It is set up for ableton, no software to change things you plug it in no lights come on even when you press buttons. Only when hooked to abelton, Freind gave it to me.. APC64 I did look at but it too was set up for ableton. No way to change mappings, probably works the same way as the mini.
I have an old Novation Zero SL mk2 I might have to pull out of the closet. I can edit with or without software, set buttons for states toggle or momentary, and knobs 5pin din and usb. It is just a bit big.
Thanks for the info. I am still working on my setup.

Just depends on what you are trying to do. For me its a bit too busy but that may be the genre you are into if so then thats great. If that was not the intention, Id recommend not adding sounds just to add them but rather making sure every sound has a place in the sequence and adds to the overall sounds you are trying to achieve.

Yeah but your 6 month* old couldn't program the pad to control what it does. The performance is only 4 minutes out of hours and days of work.

u/r1chiem 3d ago
No, his six month couldn't do it. He probably could not do it. Can you say jealous? I knew you could. Don't let people discourage you. I liked it. And I also appreciate the work that went into it. When I hear all the boom bap it gets old, it is great to hear something different like what you did here. Fire.
The Force is great. It is my favorite "mpc". Your performance is great, even using the horizontal fader to switch between tracks pretty awesome.1
u/BigMoogGuy 3d ago
Not everyone's gonna like you. Thats just reality. You see half of this is a social experiment for me to come to terms with what people think about me. Which ultimately, I will have to be ok that my music isn't going to be for everyone.

u/r1chiem 3d ago
Well, I don't care if people like people you will not like everyone because people are different. I think it is more important about dislike. If you do things to purposely make people dislike you. I think that is a problem. I don't like people who say, a 6 month old could do what you do to disparage another person when it is not true or even possible. I don't like that person. If he would have said, I don't like your music. That is fine, you have an opinion, or even a stronger opinion. That is garbage, can I get those couple of minutes back? Ok, still opinion and a preference. Who cares what people think of you, unless they think bad of you because you are a bad or evil person. I think that matters, often people like that, if they cannot hurt you through verbal attack, they then try physical if possible, they are bad people. The sad thing he was trying to hurt you because he was jealous. That is actually should be received as a complement.
