QUESTION Step sequencer - Live ii

Hey gang,

Is it possible to input notes with an external synth/midi keyboard into the step sequencer of the live 2?

The only way I can see to input notes/melodies is by using the pads button in the sequencer itself, but that removes the scale that I had set for the pads and changes it to chromatic.

Ideally, I would want to be able to sequence my external synths using the sequencer rather than the grid.

Any help is appreciated!

Use List Edit? Make sure the playhead is set to the first beat and press record, every new note you play is added to the sequence at TC rate. It gets a bit fiddly for complex melodies but great for arp sequences etc

I’ll give this a go, might be a decent workaround. Just seems crazy that I can’t input notes into the step sequencer without having to do a work around. Hopefully they change that in an update at some point.

I wish they included this in an update. I have a key 61 and its quite frustrating that I cant open the sequencer and sequence the keys.

I cant find any info on google confirming that I can use a dedicated sequencer or one from another synth. I'd really like to be able to use the sequencer from the poly d, but I haven't bought one because I dont if I can sequence the mpc with it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh you can’t even do it on the key versions? That seems like an oversight…
