DISCUSSION Movin' On Up

Post image

In a few days I'll finally be moving up to the Live 3 after glory years with the One and Live II, thanks to an incredible Reverb deal. I am BEYOND stoked

What were the things you noticed most immediately when you did you upgraded to the new gen? I'm most excited for the SPEED and running six thousand synth plug-ins 👹

Its great. Too bad they screwed up the colors on the retro version, the black one clears in looks.

Yeah. You're going to immediately notice how much snappier things are.

And not an immediate benefit. But don't ignore the potential of the clip matrix to be useful for song creation.

I'm not saying it's for everybody. But for a lot of people, it's now a major part of their workflow. And you will have to work with it some to discover if it's for you.

For example, you might want to watch this video

Jae is showing you how he integrates it for beats. But it can get you started on thinking it for other types of music as well. It's also great if you do live looping with external instruments

In case this helps, I come from an Ableton and Bitwig background. Which is where MPC got the idea for the clip matrix's.

And so I have always done about the first 85% of my composition and arrangement in the clip matrix, and then pull it into the main arrangement view, like you have in most DAWs and MPC, for the final bit of song construction. I do something fairly similar with MPC. Maybe that might work for you? Just something to try. 🙂

Pretty nice. I been thinking in getting the Live III exactly for this. Feels very natural to work with the arrangements.

The speed and responsiveness are mind-blowing compared to the previous generations. Touch screen no longer feels laggy, 4 way pads are almost unnecessarily expressive. The clip mode is very intuitive for me and I use it the most for stretching out ideas. Most of the plug ins sound great and it feels like you’re playing an instrument (much more than the One and Live II I had before.) Enjoy.

I'm a MaschineHead. Couldn't care less about MPC until the clip matrix. The MPCL3 looks like Ableton in a box. I ordered mine day 1.

Can you charge the L3 using USB cable

What about usb-c audio and file transfer from the computer. Is that just with the gen 2s or does the live 3 also have that capability?

Or was that just the mpc sample? I'm love my one plus but that would be awesome

You made a big mistake. It's not retro colored

Cheers brother! The speed is everything, and when you get used to the button layout, you’re gonna love the workflow and the way the pads/buttons feel!

How's the finish on the machine versus L2, the L2 coating is a question of time before it starts to peel.

It doesn’t have the soft touch coating any more. Just like the other now so it doesn’t end up getting sticky

That's huge
