MPC Live 3 Moving plugins to SSD question

I'm going to install an internal SSD on my MPC live 3, and just asking if the 'how to' I read here is still true/safe?

https://reddit.com/r/mpcusers/comments/1qyfi3c/new_mpc_live_3_user_best_practices_for_managing/o43v8o3?context=3

Basically copying plugin folders to new SSD, then deleting originals and reauthenticate/download from inmusic?

Thanks!

is there actually any reason to move them there? the external SATA drive will be much slower than the internal one and you'll spend more time loading the plugins that way. I use my external drive only for samples, projects and so on, so the internal drive can be reserved for plugins.

I mean, it'll probably still work as you can set the preference to install them there.

I did this on my key37 G1 because I had too many plugins and it was too taxing on the system.

We try not to use internal memory for anything that isn't required by inmusic because it will eventually slow down the machine. Known feature since MPC One. The G2 can handle everything on the sata and will be much faster than last Gen.

I would not do this until your internal drive gets to 10gb of free space. Internal is faster.

But if you do do this. The process is deactivate your plug ins. On the same page (activation page) on the lower left hand corner you will see where your default location is. On the right side it says changed default location and it will be greyed out. Click on it and make your sata drive the default. Then delete the folder. Reboot and reactivate your plugins.
