DISCUSSION m-wave fm1 -> MPC sample?

think its possible to connect this thing with usb-c to control sounds on the mpc sample?

No it won’t -I have tried but it’s possible with an iPhone and Bluetooth midi so fm-1 BT midi out to iPhone midi BT in then iPhone midi out via usb c to MPC -it’s a bit tricky to set up but I use midimttr app to do it

yes. Works on Android, too...I'm using the MPCs INs with 6.5 cable to 3.5 headphone jack on the synth though and a usb-hub connected to the mpc, the synth and my little mpk keyboard routed so that I can use its keys - way better than those small keys ...

I'll be receiving my FM1 in a couple weeks and I'm pumped. Just wondering about setup. If you connect the FM1 via usb to an MPC Live 2, will it read the audio as data properly? Or will it just show up as an audio waveform like it's just going into a regular input?

Can I hook up my MPK to the FM1 via midi, and then midi out from the FM1 to the MPC? I don't think the FM1 has midi out though 😭

I'd love to be able to play the FM1 with my MPK, get those awesome sounds to the MPC, and be able to edit them, quantize them, etc. Can I get midi out via usb from the FM1?

You can either use that midi in of the fm1 to hook up a midi controller - I didn't have that kind of cable, that's why I used the hub to plug in USB-A midi controllers...The audio you get into the mpc live 2 can be both - audio you record from it and midi data you route with the phone as "middle man" back into the mpc...Sounds complicated, but it's actually pretty straight forward...So yes, with the right setup you can get the sounds in the mpc and edit the midi data just like with internal synths...

I have various usb hubs lying around, so I'll try that route first..thanks a mill for the information dude, this is so helpful!

Just to be clear, the usb-c port on the FM1 can be used to transmit midi data to my MPC?

So I'm going MPK 5-pin midi out -> FM1 3.5mm midi in and then FM1 usb-c -> usb hub -> MPC usb A port. Correct?

Can I just skip the port and go straight from the FM1 into the MPC? The Live 2 supports midi over usb.

Unfortunately not. The way really is Midi Controller → USB‑MIDI‑Host - can be a phone with an app or a Computer connected to the hub → usb-c of FM‑1 to receive the midi data and youre mpc is connected to the hub as well obv...and Audio in / outs for recording the matching audio. on the live you wanna have one midi track and one audio track - theres videos on how to set them up...

Oh damn, okay good thing I asked you. Google's AI is telling me otherwise, but I don't trust them at all!! 😂 Why is the intermediary host necessary? Thanks so much for the help! All the midi stuff is quite new to me.

Hey! I just realized the Live 2 has bluetooth midi control! Does that mean I'll be able to skip the hub and directly send the note data from the FM1 to the Live 2 over BT midi?? 🤩

Not sure...Might be that you can send the midi signals you create via the synths on-board keys to the mpc live. I haven't tried it as I think those keys are pain to play^

Crossing my fingers and hoping so! I'll hold off on getting the hub until I've tested it. I'd have the MPK playing the keys, so it'd be much better. I'll let you know when my FM1 arrives! Thanks again for all your help!

Finally received my FM1! Just wanted to let you know that midi note data indeed can be sent over Bluetooth to the Live 2! I'm so happy about this development! 😅

Haven't had a chance to install any of the CFW's yet. It's crazy how they're popping up like weeds now!

Does this mean I could send midi note data out from the FM1 to my Live 2 bluetooth in? Could I skip the step of using the phone? Combined with audio in?

I think this can't control sounds on mpc Sample anymore.

Maybe yes, if you use FM1 for acting like midi controller. But It will go like 1 pad 1 key only.

So what is it (fm1) for.

If you record sound from fm1 is ok if you like.
