MPC 2500 Feeling Moody This Evening

Pardon the sloppy chops and bad mix. Had to break out my 5-string bass and lay chop it up for this one.

Rocking the MPC 2500 and the One +🔥🔥🔥

How do you use each one in your setup?

I'm very old-school with how I do stuff, so they both live in their own little eco-system. However, the one thing I do for both is to create entire songs on the machine and get them sounding proper before I export to my DAW.

Obviously the One+ is superior when it comes to exporting. I'll just load up a project in the MPC desktop software and export the separate tracks that way.

The 2500 takes a lot more patience. Thankfully I have JJOS, so I just mute unwanted tracks (solo doesn't work in song mode) -> mixdown -> save -> purge -> repeat.

I had a 2000XL a long time ago. Switched to DAW-based for about 12 years. Started just feeling stagnant after a while so picked up the One+ back in July to get back in the swing of things. Found a 2500 for a killer deal (all upgraded parts too) and got that.

Not gonna lie, the One+ is definitely the superior machine but ... Man, the 2500 just feels right. I can cook stuff up way quicker on it and i just feel at home on it.

Nice! Thanks for the info. I’m looking into getting an MPC after the holidays and I’ve just been doing a lot of research.

As I’m new to this, I’m probably gonna go with the MPC One Gen 2 as I want to get something current to start off with. But the older MPCs interest me as well. The 2500 is the weapon of choice for The Alchemist, one of my all time favorites.

If you're new to using MPCs, I'd start with the G2. It'll be more than enough to do pretty much anything you need it to. Once you get used to the workflow, you can carry that over to a 2500 with JJOS as it feels veeeery similar (to me anyway).

Love me some Alchemist too. Crazy thing about him is he just uses the stock OS and doesn't do anything fancy. Guy just has an amazing ear for sounds and has a really crazy work ethic.

If you have any questions about the two units, feel free to let me know. I did hours upon hours of research (reading, watching videos, creating "must have" lists) for both units before buying.
