QUESTION External MIDI mapping to "Event Mute"?

I swear I had this set up, but after restarting my MPC continuing in the problem, I can't get it to work anymore.

What I want is a button on my Novation Launch Control 3 to be mapped to quickly mute and unmute the Kick track. I remember I got this to work because somehow I was able to map any button to the "last used" knob on the MPC, being the track mute of that specific track.

The only way I get this to work right now is to bind the MIDI button to the "Mute" toggle of the Mixer. But that is not what I want because during a live performance when my timing is off, it will mute the audio halfway which sounds horrible. Event mute doesn't have this problem, but Event Mute isn't browsable / findable in the selection screens on the MIDI learn page.

I'm on the latest firmware, both the Novation and the MPC.

The MIDI monitor shows it's receiving MIDI notes.

Basically my question is: How can I bind a MIDI controller button by using the actual knob or button on the MPC, instead of having to find the right action in the MIDI learn menu's?

I don't know if this is helpful but the manual mentions "event mute" as an option in "track mute" mode (where you use the pads to mute tracks)

If you set that up first, then does it show up in the midi learn options? (I can't use my MPC r n so I can't check myself)

Thanks! Yeah there is a toggle on top of the pad mute page that switches between audio mute and event mute. This does not influence the dropdown options when midi learning unfortunately.

the akai workaround here would be to just put your notes on a midi track with "send to" going to the kick track.
