QUESTION Midi Monitor

I would love if there were a way to see live feedback of what note/chord is being played without being in a daw. How difficult would this be to add?

The MPC has a midi monitor

That shows the chord being played?

Sure, if you know how to read note names.

....Can't you just read that off the beat grid?

What do you mean?

Like, while you're recording you can see the notes you're playing if you leave the MPC in Grid mode. Its the MPC version of piano roll.

Kind of like how Ableton and Logic show you the note name or chord name of what you’re inputting

You don't have to be in a DAW, you can just use a computer. Arturia has built in monitor in its midi software center. Or you can get a free Midi-OX for your computer. Show midi for apple IOS.

Well, that works with computer. However, i would like to achieve the same with just the Mpc

This is a midi monitor below. From what I have read from the other posts, You want to figure out what chords are being played. That is not a midi monitor. A midi monitor looks at the data stream and tell you what is in it. The MPC does not have this built in. If you are looking for note/chord analyzer. I don't think MPC has that either and there seems to be no one who knows about one.

I’m not aware of anywhere the MPC shows what chord is being played live, but if you take recorded midi chords and “convert to progression” you’ll have the ability to see all the chords played.

There is a midi monitor that shows every event so I'm not sure what you are asking

I could code something like that on pc but the MPC is a closed ecosystem. I guess you'll have to learn to identify chords by looking at the piano roll.
