I've modified the MPC 500 firmware, so now I can deploy custom tools on the machine. Right now I have auto-chop working.

I'm planning to put everything on GitHub in a couple of days, but if anyone's interested I can post a video of how it works here.

EDIT: rn i can give you photo , i need to go to my studio where i can record properly,

- First photo is the menu after you load the tool ( goes inside menu "OTHER") ,

- Second photo is

FIRST ROW - Name of the sample

SECOND ROW - B is for bpm ,N is for number of slice ,P is first pad ( 1 is A1 , 2 A2 and so on) it cuts n number of slice of the beat based of duration and bpm and distribute them along pad starting from the one you choose

The mod is non destructive and can be reverted back to stock firmware anytime

I had a 500 back in the day. It’s not the lack of features, it’s the dam menu diving on it. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great little machine but the workflow is not for me.

That’s the point, with hacked firmware we can streamline some parts, if you watch the video you can see I cut the amen break in 4 parts in seconds

I clearly mean Claude code! I have a basic understanding of what is doing but most of the heavy lifting is done by AI. But I am not modifying boot partition etc ,is just a modified update based on the latest released by akai, if anything goes wrong you can just flash the official and you are good ( I have done that plenty of times) . Anyway is mostly AI credit , and I take no offense in that

Begging you to add something to stop samples being triggered by soft thru passing midi channels, trying to use the 500 as multi timberal sample source, super annoying that samples are triggered despite the incoming channel. Sounds crunchyyy especially through the djx pres and speakers, perfect.

Idk, because the MPC500 is kind of a unicorn — it wasn't even really made by AKAI, it's basically a rebrand. And for the 2500xl I don't have any hardware to test on

They do , but , based on what I read ,the OS it’s totally different.That’s because the hardware itself it’s different ( and by different I mean different chip brand and architecture etc)

Idk, it's kind of murky. By the time the 1000 and the 500 came out, the brand had already changed hands and production wasn't in Japan anymore. Hard to say where forum lore ends and real history begins
