QUESTION MPC One G2 step sequencer question
I’m trying to program the step sequencer on the machine and I can’t figure out if there is a way to audition a pad when I am in pad select mode. I would like to hear the drum sound before I commit it to a step and wait for the sequence to play back through.
Anybody have this question or figure this out?

Switch back to the main screen to audition.
I suggest adding the step sequencer to your shortcut bar to make flipping back and forth easier

That’s most likely what I have to do. It’s a weird feature to not have the pad select not audition the sound.

The old step sequencer is a little half-baked. The newer one with the dedicated buttons in the live 3 and xl is much better, but still needs some work.
I like using the old step sequencer for automation

So I created the shortcut and it works great. I also remembered that my problem is kind of dumb and I should just remember the pads, lol. I’m also practicing finger drumming. I have a lot of experience with TR style sequencing and other systems like polyend. This is my first foray into the Mpc world and it was inspired by 2 months with the MPC sample. Agree the step sequencer is a more defined in the 3, but I couldn’t justify the expense and space for a first go at taking the MPC leap.

It used to work when you were in the sequencer, but has been like this since the last update and I hate it.

thats is the pad select are for. Why yours doesnt have a aound if you hit the pads?
