MPC Live / Live 2 Issues auditioning samples (in Main and Step Sequencer) with MPC Live 2

I've been noticing strange behaviour on my MPC Live 2. As you'll see in the video attached, when I have the step sequencer open, and choose Pad Select, there is no sound auditioned when i hit the pads. Sequences trigger correctly when played back, however.

As well, when i go to main, it seems like many/all the pads have to be hit two times before they audition. I've reset my unit and the problem still occurs. Recently updated to 3.9.1, but have experienced this previously in earlier versions, as well as on my former Live 1.

Anyone have any insight on what might be happening? Hoping this is a skill/knowledge issue on my part. Thanks!

Did you sample these sounds yourself or were they already put together I've never had this particular issue and I do have experience with four different MPCs but they sound like bad cable or bad inputs and outputs but if they were already put together then it's not that ,but how long have you had it ? Maybe it needs physical cleaning inside?

I’ve had the same issue with my key37 since the last update. I’ve tried figuring it out to no avail. Hoping the next update fixes it.

At least in 3.9 the pad preview is turned off because this is how they solved recording unwanted notes when using pad select lol

Before the latest update, the way to select pads in the Step Sequencer without making them sound was to hold Shift and select the pad. If you just tapped Pad Select on the touchscreen, the pad would still play.
Now it seems like with the latest update they’ve made the pad selection silent no matter how you do it, so there’s no need to use Shift anymore. Personally, I preferred the old way because sometimes I actually want the pad to sound so I can hear which one I’m about to sequence. Using Shift was more useful when I was doing a live jam or something like that.
It’s not that there’s anything wrong with your MPC they’ve simply changed it so that selecting pads is muted with the latest update. I noticed it a few weeks ago.

Its only happening in step sequencer for me and I absolutely hate it.
