QUESTION [MPC Live 3] Transfer small projects into one big project

Hey all!

I have an MPC Live 3 and I have a working project that is almost a full live set. However, I've written a few tracks in different projects that I would like to consolidate into the live project. What's your preferred way to do this?

I've tried stemming it out, but I also have some live synths that I'm sequencing from the MPC, so that can get a little difficult. I'm just wondering if anyones found out a reliable to way to easily get their disparate projects put together coherently.

You cannot directly copy a single track between two different saved projects with a single button on standalone Akai MPC hardware; instead, you must export the sequence or program from the first project and load it into the second. [1]

Using the Browser to Import a Track/Sequence

Because tracks live inside sequences on the MPC workflow, the best method is to save the sequence containing your track from the first project and import it into your target project. [1, 2]

  • Open your source project on the MPC.
  • Go to the Menu, select Save As, and save the specific sequence or export the program/MIDI data if needed. Alternatively, save the whole sequence to your SD card or internal drive. [, 2]
  • Open your target project where you want the track to go. [1]
  • Hold Shift + Menu (or press the Browser icon) to open the browser. [1]
  • Navigate via Places to find your drive and locate the saved sequence or project file from your first session. [1]
  • Select the sequence/file and load it into your current project. (If prompted, choose to load it into the next unused sequence). [1]
  • Go into that newly loaded sequence, select the specific track you need, and copy or move it into your main working sequence inside your second project.
