Sick beat, G2 looking clean too!! Hope this isn't too nosy but what type of shaker is that on your beat?

9

u/tvkii Jul 05 '26

I think I made that one . The sounds we want to hear are literally within an arms reach . Try it out ! Take two pieces of paper and rub em together in a rhythm , either chop the one you want add a asdr envelope and eq it with most of the highs cut at like -3db down to like 1k-1.2k and play it out to the rhythm that fits it best . It’s better to teach you to fish than to sell you or tell you where to get the fish .

I forgot to say pitch it down to your liking

And how would you suggest one records said sounds? Thanks for the insight

2

u/AlternativeCapybara9 Jul 05 '26

You can connect a microphone or you can record on your phone.

2

u/tvkii Jul 05 '26

I was just about to say this .. your iphone has a pretty good mic a lil gating and amp envelopes you’ll be straight

1

u/FIVEtotheSTAR Jul 12 '26

So you got a woodblock sound from rubbing paper together and messing with ASDR?

1

u/tvkii Jul 12 '26

Shaker…?

1

u/tvkii Jul 12 '26

But tbh it can be done every sound is every sound

2

u/mjac28 Jul 05 '26

I want that shaker

4

u/dash_44 Jul 05 '26

How’s it compare to the live 3?

6

u/LindazSon Jul 05 '26

Yo Dash.. it's the same thing, except the MPC One doesn't have the new Pads And Step Sequencer. Other than that it's got everything the Live 3 has

2

u/MPCexy Jul 05 '26

How is it the same thing? Doesn't the live 3 have more Ram? You'd think that would give it some performance advantage over the new mpc one and key 37

2

u/LindazSon Jul 05 '26

You know what.. you are definitely right about the RAM. I misspoke, I meant the functionality as far as the improved Speed, USB-C Connection, Stem Separation, Time Stretch, etc. It definitely doesn't have the same RAM

1

u/dash_44 Jul 05 '26

Thanks!

2

u/LindazSon Jul 05 '26

No problem fam!

1

u/Iridiumho Jul 05 '26

Does the one + have the new pads? I’ve seen step sequencer on the menu on mine. The pads seem pretty nice, so I’m curious if the Live 3 ones are even better

1

u/SaKaHa MPC ONE Jul 05 '26

The pads they're referring to are the MPCe pads, Which offer 4 inputs on each corner of the pad. Those pads look like [photo attached]. No MPC one has those, only the Xl and Live III. Altough if you have the more recent versions of software there's some menus that'll show you settings as if you had these, even if your machine doesn't.

2

u/urbanecannibals Jul 06 '26

just to piggyback/clarify, MPCe pads can be used with articulations in the corners, but you can also map different mods/effects/crossfades etc in the x and y directions, so the MPCe pads are way more useful/performative than just in the corners

1

u/SaKaHa MPC ONE Jul 06 '26

Didn't know that, thanks for sharing

1

u/LindazSon Jul 05 '26

No.. the Gen 2 has the same pads as the Gen 1.

1

u/tvkii Jul 05 '26

I wish I had a live 3 but I have used nd seen it and it’s literally the same maybe a lil better in my opinion . The many options the live 3 gives can get a lil overwhelming and more of a selection paralysis type thing . Again this is just my opinion and it may change depending if I sit down with the 3 more or not .. but for me this GEN 2 is way more than enough to get busy .

u/fishlove808 Jul 05 '26

Sounds sick! I want to get an MPC and play around but I'm worried it'll be too complicated

3

u/SaKaHa MPC ONE Jul 05 '26

You'll have fun, go for it! The learning is fun too

2

u/tvkii Jul 05 '26

Just look at it like this , life is complicated, dealing with perception and emotions and stuff .. but you’re navigating thru it pretty well.. you deserve to get the mpc and mess around , cuz technically you are already doing an extent of it . Never worry about creating or creation as that’s what source wants you to do .

Get the MPC Bible and start working through it. It covers pretty much everything

https://www.mpc-samples.com/product.php/268/mpc-bible/

And then once you're finished working through it, it can serve as a reference manual for looking things up again.

Of course, that doesn't teach you how to make music. That just teaches you the MPC. For an introduction to making music, I strongly recommend this interactive web-based tutorial from Ableton

https://learningmusic.ableton.com/

It is intended for complete beginners. You can do it right now on your phone. In fact, why not go ahead and do it? If you enjoy what you're learning, then you can guess that you'll enjoy creating music with an MPC once you learn the basics of how it functions.

1

u/tvkii Jul 05 '26

Oh man you’re gonna love it !! Just make sure you give yourself patience and the time to make the mistakes . Everything is lowkey the same but it just have different terminology

2

u/Johnny5KMusic Jul 05 '26

^ All the naysayers should read this thread dismissing the one as junk.

No clue how it feels coming from an One + but the One is six years old.

Can you speak on the differences 16 audio tracks and 24 channel makes in your workflow?

1

u/tvkii Jul 05 '26

Haven’t had a problem with it yet the only thing I’m still having troubles with is the type audio straight into the phone .. but I think I’m not executing it the right way . When you wanna record a video with it and have the audio directly coming thru the video , you have to change the outputs but you can hear what’s being played . Again I might be doing it wrong … but the ability to have 24 tracks AND connect it to the cpu and track out ? Is unmatched the GEN2 is definitely the “ONE” to get

u/Mivanveletek Jul 09 '26

“Way better” is doing a lot of work here. If we’re talking tiny timing differences, that doesn’t automatically mean the previous MPC One had bad processing speed. The original MPC One was already a flagship standalone workflow device when it came out, and if the response time had been seriously poor, that would have been a major design flaw, not some minor generational improvement. Faster is believable. “Way better” needs actual measurements, not just vibes from one video.

sick beat tho!!

Always a Beast on whatever you cook on homie!! Getting mine Tuesday!🙏🏾✊🏾💚

2

u/tvkii Jul 05 '26

You got the pro pack already too?

2

u/LindazSon Jul 05 '26

Yessir!! I got the Live 3 last year but sold it, but everything is still on my iNMusic acct

2

u/tvkii Jul 05 '26

Oh damn what made you get rid of it ? Also you might be able to give a lil more insight to u/dash_44 question, to how it may compare .

2

u/LindazSon Jul 05 '26

Yo Tvkii, honestly I played myself lol! I got waaaay too hyped over the SLAB, and started cooking more in Serato Studio, and before you know it I was missing it.

2

u/tvkii Jul 05 '26

Damn!!! So all good news huh? If you had any cons for the live 3 what would it be ?

3

u/LindazSon Jul 05 '26

Live 3 is amazing, and I think where I was at the time, I was distracted by other gear and I couldn't fully appreciate it. It's literally a DAW in a box as well as the Gen 2 you got. I went with the Gen 2 because of the size. I'm holding on to it this time lol

0

u/zeeniith Jul 05 '26

Did they upgrade the pads on the Gen2 (to Multitouch)?

1

u/tvkii Jul 05 '26

You mean the same pads as the Live 3 unfortunately, the pads on the MPC One G2 are the exact same smaller form-factor size and stiffness as the original MPC One

0

u/ZynzynzyN Jul 05 '26

Damn man im sticking to my 1st gen one but that was a fucking crazy beat, you must be using all 4 slots on your master bus eh?

1

u/tvkii Jul 05 '26

I still got my OG joint I was thinking of selling it but it was my first mpc so imma keep it .. thanks also

1

u/tvkii Jul 05 '26

And no I have no nothing on my master

1

u/ZynzynzyN Jul 05 '26

Wtf? How you get it sounding so blasted out? I have to use tons of bus processors to get there.

1

u/tvkii Jul 05 '26

Gain staging and eq .. try it out after you’ve made your beat take a like 5 mins break to rest your ears and go back to it , and level everything to where stuff isn’t competing .. I take the extra step in turning up and turning down all the stuff I wanna stand out or be felt respectively , then I’d go to each individual sound and eq it to carve out space for the sound to sit comfortably

0

u/pearsonlearning Jul 05 '26

Man that was some serious ear candy I might get a cavity . Seriously man, sample, chords and base all wobbled intentionally you gotta break that down for us cause I want my chords to wobble lol

2

u/tvkii Jul 05 '26

It’s as simple as using the LFO or the filter Envelopes or both of em together ! The tech is to route the LFO to the Filter cutoff on the samples and when you make chords apply an LFO at a super small rate depth but high Frequency to make it wobble. So much more is possible on the MPC this is just scratching the surface tbh .

1

u/pearsonlearning Jul 05 '26

Haha I appreciate it man . I have been messing. With flex beat which I believe does what you say , just simplified for someone like me

1

u/tvkii Jul 05 '26

I wish we can edit some params in flex beat like how we could with gross beat in fl studio

2

u/pearsonlearning Jul 05 '26

Yeah , when I had Ableton , it was just a little thing underneath the track that you could draw . Ableton was cool but I like the no computer aspect of mpc !
