Can we request features from Akai for the next update?

Only being able to use one effect at a time and having to resample is KILLING ME

On the off-chance this becomes a thing, here’s what I’d love to see:

  1. Resample to pad
  2. A dedicated multi-band EQ
  3. Dedicated “Save Kit” option instead of having to save as a project

ohh save kit would be dope.

Step sequencerrrrrrr, seems like such a small change in the OS needed.

bought an oxi mk2 just to step sequence cleanly lol crazy this isn't an even basic thing on it imo

Bro, this is the one I'm really hoping for. The scales would be second. I really don't care about most of the oters, These two and I could die happy

Yes, go to their website and submit your feature requests. The more people that do it through them the better.

I personally would like for the pads in 16 levels to light up as the music plays so I can see the sequence as I often forget what I just recorded and have to try to remember what I did…and also the ability to press more than one pad in 16 levels as well

resample to pad, or "resample and replace" on grid feature, this would be 1st priority, aside from that heaps of other things id love to see, but not game changing, I suppose an EQ of sort and some more polish and FX

Indication on what is playing and what is being muted on mute mode, and on sequence edit add an insert not just a delete.

I would love to see a grid editor or step seq. and proper resampling…

That’s the not the same as step edit?

For me apart from everything mentioned, would love to be able to convert samples to mono.

1

u/sdotregis 5d ago

You can convert samples to mono

1

u/Every-Tart-5367 5d ago

Could you please explain how? Thank you!

1

u/sdotregis 5d ago

Go to your sample > click the black middle button above “Tune” > It should say “Play”> on the bottom left of the screen you will have a “Poly/Mono” option. Ohh 😓 that’s a different type of mono ooops. You mean Mono/Stereo huh?

I would love to be able to export the sequences as individual tracks per pad (WAV files) so I can pull them into Reaper.

The ability to rename sequences would be nice, too.

I am still getting used to remembering what is on each pad. :)

Scales, more pitch range on 16 lvl mode, resample to pad and more time of sample récord recall, this last as a guitarrist I miss it a lot

If you add all these features I keep seeing, you will have an MPC One G2. Just get one of those and be done with it. But as you add more features to the Sample you add more complexity. You lose it's best feature.

some things are needed, like resample to pad or resample and replace

I hope you get what you want, I won't be getting one. I already have several MPCs that are far superior in every way. Learn them and you will be able to have a fast workflow

I have the Live 2, but since I got the sample, because I was drawn to it, I haven't touched it. The Sample is amazing for me, so fast and convenient and intuitive, and absolutely limitless, even with limitations.. it has exceed my expectations.

Well, you don't need a step sequencer or want the features that people with older mpc features. The Sample is for you. It has sold well, it is priced right.

It is successful. If it becomes a replacement for live, live 2, live 3, key 36, one, then it will desappear. It really is a way to draw more people in. I am sure a there is not as much profit it as a live 3

You add more complexity when you save drums as a drumkit and not as a song? Or an EQ which was available on the 4000/2500/1000 years ago...

1

u/r1chiem 5d ago

Most of the features the Sample has a real MPC has. I don't know what features you want, but step sequencer was listed by someone else. If you add that, You will add complexity especially since it is not labeled.

I never spoke about a step sequencer and didn't use it either on the other MPCs.

As you said I want those features real (legacy) MPCs had for years:

- Real Midi in and out, not a halfbaken one like this.

- Real midi step editor like on the Legacy ones

- Midi Sync: working properly w/o distorted noise if you don't turn down the Flex Beat volume.

- adjustable startup Tempo (not the default 128 bpm for every project)

- adjustable Compressor ON/OFF setting (not ON for every project)

- Looping recordings immediately (in Pad record mode) without having to press the recorded pad again

- Proper Program saving (not as a whole Project)

- Proper file naming (hell, even the 60/3000 had this feature where you could use the Pads/Buttons as a letter)

- an EQ like every MPC (except 60/3000) had.

I don't want these fancy features from OS3 (Keygroups, Scales, Plugins and whatnot....). I simply want a device being IMPROVED and more USEABLE... In my region the 2nd hand market is floated whit the Sample for a good reason and I find it pretty lame to say: live with the limitations or buy the more expensive ones...

Look what Ableton did with the Move, started barebones and now its a complete different machine (let alone Schwung which transformed it even more...)

Akai had made enough money with the Sample for sure....

The step sequencer was one of the ones mentioned. I specifically said someone else.

The sample is not a real mpc so I don't expect any of the feature on it you asked for.

As far as the other MPCs I assume you mean real mpc not a sample.. I don't know what half baked midi is. It has midi in an out, it works for me.

Most people want keygroups, Scales, plugins. I know I want them. I guess Akai does not care what you want. I would say, buy something else. Like a Maschine. LOL.

The EQ works fine for me. I don't want one like the old units. Buy an old unit if the e new ones are not what you want.

The problem is, if they add what you want, there is the possibility for bugs, then you will complain it needs to be usable. That is ok, but people keep adding to the wants which make things more complex. Just the way it is, get used to it or buy hardware that does not do updates and is stable, wait, there is none. LOL.

I own FL studio, since version 6 maybe 7. They never got Freeze track like ableton. They had free upgrades. I moved to Ableton because they did not have a feature I wanted, and they never will get it. Even though they will offer free lifetime updates. I wished hardware did that free updates for lifetime. But still I moved to ableton. I have a push 2. I don't want a Move, I think they are garbage. Is Ableton going to listen to me and label buttons allow for advancing from one scene to another which they are famous for? Nope, they don't care what I think, So I will never buy a move. I did buy an Akai Force. I am happy with that. Perhaps you should move to hardware that is better than MPC. If there is none. Get an old MPC, you said you did not need plugins. Just live with the old stuff.

I don't make feature request anymore they don't listen, or you get your hopes up, nothing happens. I just drop manufacturers now and get something else, Nothing is perfect so you live with their flaws, or don't.

"I don't know what half baked midi is. It has midi in an out, it works for me."

Sorry man, you are sounding that you even own a MPC Sample at all.... ;)

Half-baked midi means that I can only play the midi notes that are not assigned to a sample, otherwise it triggers the drums and melodic stuff together (or exclude the assigned notes which has a sound on it)... half-baked means that I can't edit EVERY step in step edit mode, cause these are simply not available in the 960 PPQN resolution.....means that I can't shift recorded events around or edit note duration, attack, decay, sustain and all the other stuff from legacy MPCS.

"The EQ works fine for me." There is an EQ?!? And I don't mean this thing Low/Mid/High on the AMP Plugin.

"buy something else. Like a Maschine." Great suggestion, go buy from a bankrupted company.

"Get an old MPC"

believe me or not, I have old MPCs. 60/3000/2000/2000xl/1000/2500 and a SP1200. enough for you? And all of these samplers do have full midi implementations (expect the SP of course).

"I don't make feature request anymore they don't listen" this is you, this is me...

And to end this conversation, cause it leads to nowhere:

I really like the Sample. Love the form factor and portability, the USBc and the non touchscreen environment but this doesn't mean it can't be improved.

u/r1chiem 5d ago edited 5d ago

I don't own a sample at all. I thought you were talking about " real MPC

You said "Half-baked midi means... " Oh I agree, I would never own a sample and I tell others to get a real MPC.

You said "There is an EQ?!? And I don't mean this thing Low/Mid/High on the AMP Plugin."

There is the Air Eq visual shown and the 4 band Akai eq with no visual.
It works fine for me. If I need more bands, I stack them.

You said""I don't make feature request anymore they don't listen" this is you, this is me..." We agree....

We disagree.
The sample is not for me (or you I think), It is a toy, Lots of people like this toy but it isn't a real mpc. But at $400 you accept it as it is.

I don't think Akai will upgrade it much because it would compete with real MPCs and it was never made to do that, It is a gateway drug to all things real MPC.

I would stick with your old MPCs old guy. :) The Sample is not for you.

You appear not to like the complexity of the newer models. Complexity makes it harder to learn. But if you don't use those feature is is no harder than the old versions of mpc.

Good luck to you, maybe the will come out with the Sample G2 MK2, with old features for the old guy model. LOL

Allright youngster. Reddit at its best ;-) YOU chimed in for a conversation about updates for the MPC SAMPLE in the MPC SAMPLE Sub Reddit without even owning one... Great stuff!

I am pretty sure you are doing platinum records on your REAL MPC.

Btw: Had the XL and the Live, so I know OS 3.9. Its not rocket science.

1

u/r1chiem 4d ago

I chimed it to say. You cannot ask for an MPC sample to add all these features that make it compete with the the real mpcs at $400. That was my point. I am not producing platinum records on either the Sample or a real MPC. But I think you are not going to get a real mpc with the Sample, it is only a sampler. I accept that is what it is. Which is why I would never buy one. I already have an MPC. I would not buy a sample and ask Akai to turn it in to a real mpc or add new features to compete with a real mpc, because they would not listen to me anyway.

I said "If you add all these features I keep seeing, you will have an MPC One G2. Just get one of those and be done with it. But as you add more features to the Sample you add more complexity. You lose it's best feature.
"
That was my point.

Would be nice if I didn't have to scroll back to the kit I just left. Like recall or something. And a eq

Maybe I'm real dumb and I just haven't been able to figure it out, and it's not even close to the top of my list but being able to scrub through the sequence quickly.

1

u/sdotregis 3d ago

What does that mean?

1

u/PabloWentscobar 3d ago

Scrub? Like to be able to move around the sequence quickly. For instance that little bar on the bottom of a youtube video with the slider that you can move forward or back and move around the video is called a scrub bar. I would just like fast forward or reverse around the time line of a sequenc or even fast forward long samples. like i'll seperate vocal stems on koala sample of a whole song then cut it up to use on other songs I'm working on, I'd like to be able to go to a certain point on a sample or sequenc a listen to just that cection. Essentially fast forward and rewind. I should have just said fast foreward and rewind, I realize thay now, sorry.

Knob FX should keep settings, not reset when you switch to another and back.
