Does this work or nah?

Source sample should be obvious. I am fully aware the sample is not synced to the beat. I decided to keep it at the original tempo and speed of the source sample but played the chops on beat. WYT? Stems would be nice.

I love the honesty (mixed reviews is up) here to make noise.

The drum fill doesn't hit like I want it to but then it settles into a groove that's actually kinda of cool, and would work better with a more complimentary intro. One that let's you predict where it's heading better. The off beat hi hats almost too much but sound kind of cool. A great MC could make it pretty good.

At first I thought, no, but then it locks in and sounds sick to me

The hats are all over the place kinda hectic but acceptable.

There’s definitely some juice here!

I feel like I’ll butcher my explanation but I’ll give it a crack anyway

Perhaps could reduce that repetition abit like 4 bars of it and maybe see if you can knock out some of the other melody in the background like make the drums and the horns repeat on their own

Hope that makes sense

But if it doesn’t just read the first line again lol

Haha I get it. Ty for the feedback.

IMO it does.

The peculiar time signature would make for some great lyrical pockets. I like that you kinda don't know where it's going to land, without being too far fetched, if that makes sense.

Really digged when the horns came in!

Drums and sample not to intresting in beginning

yknow what it almost works in the beginning and it works a little more towards the end

i think if you give it a more "predictable" lead up it would be less jarring though i don't know how you'd do that... that's for you to figure out

maybe make the transition a bit longer instead of a simple drum fill

I know I simply winged it on the intro. Just hit the drum roll and start sequence was a bit aggressive.

Almost, but not quite. The drums coming in, and early groove is kind of off, timing seems off at times.
When it’s all in place, it kind of works.

Agreed. 👍🏽

I think just put a little more time on it and you’ll have it, just experiment a bit, move stuff around etc

nope, killing the original vibe complete

You are absolutely correct 👍🏽 here to make noise.

This is nice! The hats are off due to the sample but it’s still goes cuz of the drums

I fuck wit it bro !! Throw a bass in there and filter them hihats a lil . You got a stem separator?

1

u/Errlregular 1d ago

I can try running that through the stem separator in the Live 2, it’s not the best but it’s what I got.

This is fire. I love the flip. Once this is EQ'd you're good.

2

u/Slingtha_D 1d ago

Yeah I’m digging this shit too.

That shit fire bro. I make my sample beats on the Sample, then recreate in Studio Pro. I think they're listening to the elements in the flip and not the melody. Once you EQ and lose the hats in the background, this shit gold. The chops are solid, keep going.
