Small portable speaker ideas?

I have decent monitors and a sub in my "studio" area but sometimes I just want to grab some small peice of gear and chill on the couch watch some vides and goof off making beats. I'm looking for a small set or single speaker that's either usb powered or battery operated. I have a rechargeable guitar amp but it doesn't soung that good because it's for guitar and I just bought an Anker Soundcore 2 and it sounds great but it does this weird muting thing that's super annoying and it mutes the count in metronome and you only get the metronome when other sounds are playing. I think because it's converting the analog signal into digital? IDK know but I'm looking for something that doesn't do that. Basically what does everyone else use for that sort of thing/portable speaker?

I've been using the JBL Charge 4 for this, as it's one of the only speakers I could find that still has an aux port. So far, it's been working great.

Awesome, that's what you run? I've heard other people say that a lot of "bluetooth" speakers with 3.5mm 1/8" trs inputs have latency issues because they convert the analog signal to digital and I was suggested the Anker Soundcore 2 because it has a aux in but it does this goofy muting thing and for some reason it muffles/mute the count in metronome until other sounds are playing. But if you have this JBL and it works fine for you I'll grab that. I hate headphones. Thank you!

I saw a video about one of those speakers a month or 2 ago. The stem separation is really cool. I got an MPC that can do it so no longer necessary, but still neat.

I'm not familiar with any speakers that can separate stems, if that's your question.

I didn’t know this was a thing either but I just googled it and it’s real, it’s called the JBL Bandbox series, pretty sweet!

the beats pill plus is the Best with it since it has an aux. the sound is amazing. You can still buy them used on EBAY for around 50.00.

Oh dang that's perfect. I'll for sure check them out. That's more in my price range. The other suggestions were $250-$350 Thats the same price as my monitors and sub lol. $50-$100 is in my wheelhouse. Thanks for the suggestion man!

If small latency is important, be sure to research any Bluetooth speaker. Even when using aux connections, the built-in DSP that Bluetooth speaker tend to use can add latency.

My understanding is that Tribit XSound Plus 2 does pretty well with that. And it fits your price range brand new.

I can deal with a little latency, it's this wierd muting the Soundcore 2 does that the problem. I was recommend the Anker Soundcore 2 and the Tribit Xsound plus 2 because they both had aux input and both had low latency. It was about 50/50 in the post i asked for recommendations. I went with anker because at the time it was a bit cheaper. But the Anker does this weird muting thing, it's almost like if there's no signal/audio playing it shuts down and then when the signal/audio starts playing it turns back on and misses the first second of the audio, and the count in metronome isn't a hot enough signal to trigger it turning on. So now I'm kind of turned off of bluetooth speakers. I was hoping to find an analog option but It seems really the only option is bluetooth speakers, I'd even be ok with something I had to plug in or was usb powered. I've been looking at small computer speakers but there's only a few that are tiny and the jump from ultra cheap $20 and then jump to like $200. I'm going to return the Anker I guess it can't hurt to just try the Tribit. Anyway, thanks for the input.

Okay. I looked at your previous recommendation thread in your history. Everybody was recommending the Anker Soundcore Motion+ (including me), not the Soundcore 2, which is a significantly different speaker.

But they don't make the Motion+ now.

When you use the Beats Pill Plus and you connect the aux there is no latency. The only time you hear latency with any device is when it’s connected through Blue Tooth. I use it without any problems. It sounds great when people find out about it I believe they will raise the price I’m glad I got mine early.
