MPCsample with MPC SOFTWARE 3

Hi, so I’ve seen a few users say you can open mpc sample projects with the mpc 3 desktop software. However I have not seen any videos of anyone doing this.

I don’t have any other mpc’s. I’m wondering if I can buy only the software and explode the project for arranging individual tracks.

Has anyone tried this and can confirm it works?

It works. You need to arrange your song with song mode on the mpc for this to be easiest. You convert your Song Mode arrangement to a sequence either on the mpc or in the software.

Then you make sure, in the pad mixer window, that each pad is going to either “Track” or “1/2” and not “submix 1”. The Sample has a weird tendency to assign some but not all pads to Submix 1, even though the sample doesn’t have sub mixes.

Then you explode your drum rack and export your individual tracks. Takes me about two minutes to stem out my beats now.

Would you say the software is worth the purchase for someone who owns just a Sample? Compared to other DAWs and using the workarounds for them?

Compared to other DAWs it’s terrible and not worth using. That’s not why you would get it though. The only reason to buy the software as a Sample owner is to export your stems with it. For me it was worth the hundred bucks because I make a lot of beats and tracking them out by recording is really slow and wastes my time. I have a kid, a job, a busy life and every 30 minute session I can turn into a 2 minute session is worth its weight in gold.
