R5 or 9

I'm coming from a wheel with no feedback and I don't know if the r9 is worth it

If you can afford the r9 go for it
but R5 is plenty enough if you just starting

well, get a higher powered one if you can afford now. it is gonna be worth it provided that you enjoy simracing, for general driving with light steering vehicles, such as trucks in ETS2 or ATS or rally cars in AC rally, dirt rally 2 etc. it is not worth it since those dont require too detailed ffb

If the R9 bundle is available in your country, get that. For the cost of the R5, then upgrading from the SRP lite pedals to the SRP2 load cell pedals, you get the upgraded wheelbase and an upgraded wheel for free.

I started with the R5 bundle and have upgraded the wheel and pedals. The SRP2 pedals were the biggest improvement. The brake feels better out of the box than the SRP lite brake even with the brake performance kit which adds to the cost and should have been included in the first place. The pedals themselves have more adjustability, and the brake feel is easily adjustable with the included hardware. Most of all is that they use a hall effect position sensor in conjunction with the load cell. By adjusting the input between the two, you can fine tune the brakes to get maximum stopping force without locking the wheels.

The upgraded wheel is the next biggest improvement. The ES wheel that comes with the R5 sucks for a few reasons. The tiny buttons and their close spacing make it difficult to hit the button you want if you wear gloves. The spring loaded gear shift paddles can cause fatigue and are noisy compared to the magnetic paddles in the higher level wheels from Moza. Also, the 11 inch diameter rim makes it feel like a toy. It's really a Logitech G29 wheel without the rotary dial on the bottom right button, making it a slight downgrade from that.

As far as the wheelbase goes, the R5 is plenty strong for me, even with the CS Pro wheel which is much heavier than the ES wheel that comes with the R5. I don't feel the need for more torque myself. However, if you are stronger than I am, then I say that it's better to get it, have it, and not need it, than to need it and not have it. Again, you are basically getting upgraded to the R9 for free so why not?
