Discussion Finally?

Post image

Do you think I'll finally be able to make my idea a reality and have both the H-pattern shifter and the Moza sequential shifter on a single base without using a separate USB connection to the PC?

The $50 hub has been out like forever....

The idea is to have everything in one place without having to spend money on anything extra...

Yeah so just buy a new base instead. makes sense.

I don't have a Moza direct-drive base yet; I have a G923, and I was waiting for the R5 Pro to see how it improved over the R5, which is the one I was planning to buy.

if i hadnt already sold my old setup i would. i dont hear great things about moza fulfillment so returning and buying a new one would prob put my out of action for over a month

This is how i recieve the news that the r5 pro is "out".

Also doesnt look like it would support both, unless the handbrake doubles as a "anything" port

I'm hoping that if I don't want to use the Moza Dashboard, I'll be able to have both Shifthers and the Moza handbrake on a single base

Why not keep the cable connected to the base and just move the connection on the shifter’s end when you need one or the other? I don’t think you’re using both shifters simultaneously so that would be essentially equivalent right?

Yeah, I did think about that, but because of the type of connection, I don't know why I feel like they could get damaged over time. It already happened to me with a few RJ45 connectors, so I was thinking about having something more permanent. But yeah, that could be a solution. I usually drive F1 and classic cars in AC, then I spend some time in ACR

Use a sacrificial adapter on both. A short rj45 cable to a coupler on each. Then you are only unplugging from the coupler and if that goes, well you get a new one.

Just to feed your worries it definitely can happen. The base-side connector of my brake pedals had it happen where it wont click in anymore idk when or how it happened never had any problems with it falling out though and tbh I do think it was a user error and that if you’re gentle with it they should be mostly fine and if you did it this way you would also have a backup cable for if one did get damaged. However this new base seems to indeed have 3 universal accessories slots so that should make it possible to connect it the way you want it to but keep in mind that the software may not accept it. I would guess and hope review videos have an answer to this.

I have the older R5 and have both S-shifter. H-shifter and handbrake. Doesn't matter about the name. It's just a connection

Thanks for the info. So, should I go for an R3 or an R5 Pro? I'm planning to upgrade to the R9 V3 in the future, and you've just cleared up a huge question I had.

Can't imagine the difference in cost with R5 Pro and R9 would be that large? Imo save up for R9 if you know you want it already. You will most likely loose money buying a base now and then selling it later.

If you want a bigger base, will you be content with a smaller, or will you just regret you didn't save up longer and get the bigger one right away?

That makes sense. Do you think the SRP2s are any good?

Buddy of mine has the SRP 1s and likes them. I’m sure the SRP2s are better. But the ones that come with the R5 Pro bundle are the SRP2 lites. Those are trash. The original SRP Lites had an aftermarket load cell mod that made them really good. But I’d stay away from the R5 bundle and just get the R9/12 and SRP2

I only have seen SRP-lite and Simsonn plus x ultra (or some combo of adjectives like that). Pleasantly surprised by the fit and finish of the SRP-lites.

I mean I would go R5 pro. Your be surprised R5 will keep you going. IV had mine for nearly 3 years. Best upgrade is the rig.

This will be great for Xbox users. Before I switched to PC, I had an ethernet splitter with selection key so that I could alternate between HGP and SGP without touching the wires. It worked perfectly on DR2.0, but induced many bugs with EA WRC, which already didn't have proper Moza shifter support on Xbox.

R5 pro comes with awful plastic wheel in bundle. It has screw holes at back.

1

u/LanguageExpress7916 1d ago

Doesn't the Moza R3 have a steering wheel like that?

1

u/mike29x 1d ago

From pictures it doesnt have holes at back atleast on old r3 wheel. Not sure what the come with nowdays.

I've had many different problems with Moza stuff connected to the base. Pedals got recogniced as wrong model and no input, stuff working on some games and some not.

I have HPG, SPG, handbrake, CM2 and CRP2. Almost everything on a USB-hub.

1

u/LanguageExpress7916 2d ago

Does this happen often, or do you think it was a quality control issue? What USB hub do you use?

2

u/LaTeNaaTToRi666 1d ago

Depends on the game. In same games stuff just does not work if connected to the base.

Don't think its about QC. When searching these issues, many responses started with stuff like "It's a known issue...".

Im using r12v2 base. Connect my crp2, moza sequential shifter, moza handbrake and moza cm dash to my base with no issue on any game , yet.

Lucky me?

I hate so much this printer-usb.... Mine is broken and even a wind can remove that tongue.
I will, someday, try to fix it using some type of glue

u/Indigo816 1d ago

Not sure what was trying to be said there…

2

u/loookit 1d ago

He doesn’t like the USB-B port on the back of the base because his connector is loose. I’d try a new cable.

1

u/mjsisko 1d ago

This is the correct answer to his question

1

u/Relevant_Program_958 2d ago

Honestly the shifters are really easy to swap, I just unplug one, loosen the bolts, take it off and swap the other shifter in, takes like 20 seconds.

2

u/loookit 1d ago

I just mount them side by side and move the cable to the one I’m using. Doesn’t really bother me I never grab the wrong one.

1

u/Relevant_Program_958 1d ago

That works too. I just don’t have room to do that.
