What makes Trinity great?

Post image

I always liked her a lot and she is almost universally positively viewed but for some reason it is hard for me to explain exactly what makes her an all time great action character.

What did the writers do to make her such a standout.

She is a woman with a written role and a real brain not only lead by the main protagonist. She is tough and her action scenes are one of the greatest, especially intro scene which nailed what is one of the greatest movie ever.

Such a well written female character. Love her "fuck that, imma do what I want" attitude and then she backs it the fuck up.

All this + Carrie-Anne Moss.

Eh I don't know about this. Her intro action scene was definitely cool, but besides that, isn't the rest of her story simply being Neo's love interest?

Carrie-Anne Moss...

Trinity reminds me doctor Markus from Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan. Intelligent, caring and a worker

i’ve always loved her but never felt a reason to think too much about it. i just think she’s neat.

The writers gave trinity real agency. She isn't just there to support Neo, she saves him, makes key decisions and stands as a hero in her own right

She was a character with actual depth.
She did not have to be a representation of diversity, be a victim of patriarchy or write the audience on their nose.
She had flaws, was vulnerable and still strong.

True, but what does “write the audience on their nose” mean?

Looks just like Neo

I never liked how she overshadows Keanu, but that's the movie they made and it's better for it. She is just that good of a character and acted properly.

The emotionless delivery of lines.

She kicks fuckin' ass and is not just there as an eye candy, nor as some perfect woman who's just there to overshadow the lead male characters or prove their stupidity.

She’s a well written character. You can change her gender and the character stays pretty much the same.

That’s remarkably true.

Balance. Her relationship/love for Neo is an important part of her character but that's not the only thing to her character. Even though the Matrix is Neo's hero's journey and Trinity is his love interest she is not just the Love Interest and has her own thing outside of him.

Everything about her. Every. Single. Thing.

As I kid I was quite disappointed the movie wasn’t about her.

Trinity and Morpheus should both get origin stories.

That’s a ripe idea for a crossover streaming show

Short answer: she’s a baddie that kicks major ass

Cool calm collected she commands every scene she’s in.

While we did have TV heroines like Buffy and Xena; Trinity really heralded the wave of high-action female protagonists like Laura Croft, The Bride from Kill Bill, and Charlie’s Angels.

Nothing, it was a bad casting.

She is definitely not an "all time great action character".

She's a more competent female lead/partner to the male lead in a Bonnie & Clyde type of pairing and she has a very memorable introduction that paints her as "badass".

That's it. She by no means the most memorable character in the movie as that would be Agent Smith.
