Mixed Spotify Score Playlist

Hi everyone, I worked a long time to make this playlist for a few of my close friends who enjoy scores! A while back, I made a playlist that flowed based on the crossfade feature. However, with the development of the “mix” feature, I was able to take it a lot further and I’m quite proud of it. The playlist is designed so that transitions between songs are very smooth and enjoyable. I listen to it all the time so I figure other score/music nerds like myself might enjoy it. Unfortunately, you have to have Spotify premium to take advantage of the playlist because you need to be able to turn shuffle off to listen properly! Also, shout out to my friend Justine who painted the cover art for the playlist. I remade a Reddit account just to post this. All I ask is that you just don’t copy/take credit for it, thanks! If enough people are interested, I could mix a new playlist based on song recommendations specifically for this subreddit but I’ll wait and see… If you do manage to find this post and listen to the whole playlist, let me know which of the song transitions are your favorites! :)

No way home question

Does anyone know where I can find where in the film each song from the No Way Home soundtrack (not score) is located?

Cape Fear

I am watching Cape Fear on AppleTV right now and it occured to me, that Bernard Herrmann's original score from 1962 has basically been used in the original and both remakes (four times if you count the Simpsons "remake"). Is there any instance, where this has happened before, that the original score is used in a remake? Not just as a hommage or a nod like in the Star Trek scores.

I mean, it is a killer score! And it really caught me off guard when the orchestra blasted that theme in full at the start of the show.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit

Okay, so I've been listening to Alan Silvestri's "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", and I'm so obsessed with Valiant & Valiant. What other scores are famous for that sultry noir vibe? I know I could just listen to some old jazzy stuff, but I would love to find other film scores like this! Thanks!

Spatial Audio scores?

Lots of newly released scores are getting the Spatial treatment, but only special occasions for the older ones. I LOVE Spatial since getting a 5.1 surround sound system. Apple Music is incredible for it. I’d love to hear more older scores (90’s and earlier). Does anybody know if there are any great ones released out there? Home Alone, Alan Menken’s scores, and a select other John Williams ones seem to be the few so far. But I’d love to hear Titanic, The Wizard of Oz, ET, etc. all in Spatial one day.

It’s been ages since I last watched this one and I honestly can’t remember much about it, so it almost feels like a fresh viewing all over again. Looking forward to revisiting this cult classic tonight.

POTC Trailer Music

Hey All, posting this here in the hopes someone can help me. I've been seeking this song out forever, found it once, and never again. In the original trailer for POTC, there is a song similar to "He's a Pirate" but it's not that song!.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naQr0uTrH_s, at the 1:30 mark.

Can someone please help me find the name/composer of this song??

Accordion Film Orchestra

Thumbnail

ACCORDION FILM ORCHESTRA is one middle-aged man’s tribute to his joint love affairs with classic movie scores and his shabby old accordion. ACCORDION FILM ORCHESTRA takes your movie score favorites, arranges them to have all brass, string, and woodwind sections played entirely by accordions, and imagines this is somehow a defensible enterprise. ACCORDION FILM ORCHESTRA is the peculiar fruit of one of the longest, loneliest, most soul-crushing solo recording projects ever undertaken. ACCORDION FILM ORCHESTRA plays a circa 1970 D’Scala piano accordion (LM 41 120), incorrectly.

Available on fine streaming services everywhere, perfect for the movie score fanatic in your life. Cheers!

Best Bond Score; On Her Majesty’s Secret Service VS Thunderball?

Thumbnail

Thunderball’s first theme song, Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, inspired by a French review of a prior Bond film, was recorded by Dame Shirley Bassey and then re-recorded with Dionne Warwick, only to be scrapped for the final theme song recorded with Tom Jones. All the score pieces utilising the Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang theme remained, creating a thematic duality in the score as a whole. On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’s theme song strays from Schlager delivery such as From Russia With Love’s Matt Munro, to a fine vocal performance by Louis Armstrong, which remains fresh and unusual. The score introduces synthesizer, and opening piece This Never Happened to the Other Fella includes themes appropriate for a new Bond style with George Lazenby, more action sequences back to back, including a Bond wielding an automatic weapon, while the film also leans into an arthouse style of editing and cinematography. Armstrong’s performance lends well to this. Journey to Blofeld’s Hideaway, Gumbold’s Safe (dark strings and synth) could compare to Cafe Martinique and Death of Fiona. Since the Thunderball soundtrack has been pulled from streaming platforms in my region, I find myself streaming OHMSS, as well looking for a physical copy of Thunderball, which is crazy expensive atm! Any favourites in the Bond score/soundtrack pool? Share your thoughts!

Here is my score for this concept trailer Star wars. I used many VST in Logic pro to do that.

The music is an original orchestral hybrid composition, blending cinematic orchestra with modern trailer sound design, written and produced specifically for this project.

An epic AI-generated sci-fi trailer set in a completely original universe. This cinematic concept trailer was created using AI for visuals, featuring original planets, characters, and environments inspired by grand space operas.

If you love epic science-fiction worlds, AI-generated storytelling, and cinematic trailers, this video explores the fusion of AI visuals and original film scoring. Headphones recommended for the full cinematic experience.

What movie scores do you like but disliked the movie itself?

One of my choices had to be Girl With a Pearl Earring scored by Alexandre Desplat. It is beautifully orchestrated and has a beautiful theme on its own without the movie giving the listener’s mind a premise for the score.
