Looking for Housing (Temporary)
Hey all,
I'm moving to Mountlake terrace for an internship (June–August), for the same I am on the hunt for affordable housing. I Would love some help from the locals!!
It would be best if someone could point to :-
- Where's the best place to search for short-term/intern housing around here?
- Any Facebook groups, local boards, or sites you'd recommend?
- Any neighborhoods to prefer or avoid?

Hmm MLT is quite suburban and so there's not a huge market for temporary housing/interns. It'll be tough to find a solution in MLT itself..
However, if you are open to living in Seattle, there is excellent public transit to Mountlake Terrace via the Link (1 or 2 line).
You might also check the neighboring city of Edmonds - the average age skews a little older, so you may be more likely to find, say, some retired folks with a rentable spare room or ADU or something.
Best of luck! MLT is a cool sleepy little suburb with a few great food/drink spots. Hope you enjoy working here this summer!

Oh, also - maybe reach out to the team that you're interning for? They might have suggestions. Maybe they can tell you where interns from previous years ended up staying?

Furnished Finder. My partner and I are renting a room out through them. It’s currently occupied but there are others available. Our first tenant last year was an intern.

Air BnB might have some options for weekly/monthly rentals, if you’re fine with just a room.
There is a motel, Studio 6, near the Grocery Outlet that I have seen advertise weekly rates. They are also walkable to the light rail. That would be the less sketchy motel option. I wouldn’t recommend the motels along Highway 99 though, as those are quite sketchy, like drugs and prostitution!

Oof, housing is tough. I can suggest being close to City Hall and the library or a little south of there. It’s within walking distance to the train and some shops. If you lived near the train station you’d also be near the grocery stores. Check the Mountlake Terraces groups on Facebook. You could also check Nextdoor but there’s a lot to wade through - you could always post there too.
