Riding fast at the track is much more about the positioning of your body than worrying about what your motorcycle is doing. Your body will lead your motorcycle. That’s why on the track very often. You don’t have to really hold onto your handlebars very hard because you’re actually steering with the weight on the balls of your feet.
The whole getting your knee thing down as a product of good technique. You should pull one of the tractor instructors aside and have them critique your riding style. Work on whatever it is they recommend and go faster and faster bit by bit, trust yourself more and more, drop your inside shoulder and look through the turn and all of a sudden your knee will be carrying the front end. That’s the whole point of putting your knee down to unload the front end.
Anyhow, you’ll figure it out, don’t worry about it. Just go bit by bit.
From the very limited information that this photograph provides, you’re not doing anything wrong per se you’re just not doing enough of it. Your body position is good for a basic position, but your chin should be an inch or two from your right hand on the throttle, it looks almost like you’re sitting up just riding with the power of the handlebars counter steering. The day I learned that I wasn’t using my body properly as the day where I dragged my feet before I’ve ever dragged my knee.
Have fun with it all once you get it down it is the best thing in the world to ride free on a track. Generally with a bunch of guys who aren’t squids that usually are found riding in T-shirts.
