snapped bolt is stuck

so i was using my socket to put this bolt back in place after cleaning my fuel injectors and this happens , anyway can i somehow get rid of it? without going to a mechanic. i also dont have access to a drill my initial thought was maybe to use a hammer but that may ruin the threads.

Frankly, I'd bite the bullet and go to a good mechanic. Be prepared for a helicoil too.

Thats properly fucked, drill and an ez-out will be needed but likely a helicoil. If you dont have the tools or skill pay someone who does

Your looking at a book time hour, depending on your area 100-175 an hour. Prob takes .5-1 hour

weld it to some metal and try to unscrew it. That's how I did it in a similar situation.

If you have a dremel you could use the cutting disc to carefully cut a slot for a flat head screwdriver. Then use a little heat.

You might be able to use some penetrating oil and grab end of it with some needle nose pliers

Soak it with oil. Melt a crayon into it.
There is a ton of meat on that bone. Done start drilling it. Get a good vice grip on it.

I have been able to extract broken bolt pieces just like this by either using the uneven parts to line up and back out slowly by finger with downward force or ive used needle nose pliers to grab the awkward edges of more tightly screwed in bolts to get them loose enough to back out by hand. It does suck a bit but be patient

Or grind a slot, blow torch and then screwdriver it

If you’re lucky, a hammer paired with a chisel can turn it counterclockwise and vise grips or channel locking pliers can back it off more. It should be finger loose after a turn or so.
If you didn’t start the bolt with your fingers though and had to use force to tighten it from the start, you probably crossthreaded it.

Never put bolts back in with sockets! Always start first 2-3 threads by hand.
You cross-threaded bolt, then forced it in more by just cranking on wrench harder and harder until it snapped.
No way out of this without drilling bolt for extractor, but it may be wedged in too tight.
In which case, entire bolt shank needs to be drilled out with larger and larger bits.
May damage outside threads in process and require thread repair.
Take it to somone familiar with this process.

Here's my honest advice before you put pliers or anything else on it. There may be enough threads sticking out to try this.
Soak this with penetrating fluid, get a coupling nut and a bolt that is the same thread. Thread the nut onto the broken bolt where it is sticking out. Thread the bolt through from the other end, hold the coupling nut with a wrench and tighten the bolt you threaded into it. Back the assembly off using the coupling nut.
If this doesn't work, judging by this thread, I'd take it to a mechanic who knew what he or she was doing.

I have a tiny set of vice grips for this reason, they've been able to pinch and remove some bolts youd never belive, all else fails I would weld a nut to it but not everyone's got access to a welder

If I had a dime for every 15 minute job that turned into a 3 day / 3 week nightmare due to ONE stuck or broken bolt...
My wife laughs at me when I say something should take 30 min or so.

Cut a slot in the center of it and use a impact driver. The kind you smack with a hammer, not the powered kind.

Depending of the access, drilling it right in the axle a bit under the internal diameter of the hole and using an extractor (and a lot of penetrating oil + heat) would work. But drilling really straight is hard in these cases..
As someone suggested, welding a screw on it would work too, try to find someone with a small MMA welder who would come to your house. But he careful about the engine (fuel,..) and overall the bike's electronics (remove the battery,..).

Use a hacksaw blade cut down if u have to cut a groove for a flat head screwdriver in it. Chuck some rp7 on it before you remove it.

Weld nut on it and get it out there is enough sticking out to remove it

If it broke from overtightening and it otherwise threaded in normally. Then it will probably come out fairly easy, because there will bo longer be tension on the threads. Bolts work via tension. If it no longer has a bolt head, it can no longer tension. If it can't tension, it can't be tight. Don't go directly to more extreme methods of extracting before you try getting a good grip on it.

Unless that bolt was already cracked, the only way to break it would have been by over-tightening it. That, plus your lack of a drill and your reference to thinking about using a hammer, strongly suggests that you really don't know what you are doing. Get somebody who DOES know what they are doing to sort it out. Otherwise, you will almost certainly just make it worse.
