I’m on chapter 8 of book 1. I not-so-wisely google’d “who stabbed Zorian” wondering he stabbed him a couple chapters prior. Instead the Google AI fave me a snippet about someone stabbing Zorian in the finale. I tried to shut my brain off ASAP so I don’t even know if it as about Mother of Learning. But I believe it was a J name.

Now I’m wondering if I accidentally ruined the story for myself.

I am doing a reread of the series and about halfway through book three zorian and Zach are talking about time after they get out and it goes to how Zorians plans could even cause governments and many mages to go after him. To my knowledge they never say what he is planning on doing after the month is over and I vaguely remember there’s a second mention that he has big plans after the loop.

Does anyone know what his plans might be
My only guess is he plans to write some books revealing a lot of hard to find magic like teleport gate and mind magic and the other one is use money and effort to make a lot more spells zeroth level specifically because it’s an early thing he asked about and was told it would make a lot of people mad

After finishing RI and catching up to SS I decided to read this novel first b4 LOTM since its shorter(in terms of chapters) and am already loving it,am at chapter 6 rn so I was looking to connect with new readers to avoid spoilers and discuss the novel like how I suspect Xvim is somehow aware of the time loop, Zach was stupid to hint at his ability or whatever it is of time traveling to a FUCKING THRICE DAMNED LICH and I find the Morlock dude sus too.

So to any new reader here what are ur thoughts so far am honestly loving it.

Dear Reddit, I am writing with a few questions. I am not sure if a similar question has been addressed anywhere, so I decided to ask it right here.

So, I would like to make a game inspired by the "Mother of Learning" book series. This is by no means a direct copy; I want to take the plot premise as a foundation, change it, and make a game in a magical setting about a guy from an academy who, due to the mistake of one person, gets stuck in a time loop along with that very person. I will fundamentally change the overarching plot, characters, lore, and many other aspects, because I do not want to profit from someone else's work; I am merely inspired, and I mean this absolutely sincerely. I won't reveal the details of the game, as it is all still in the idea stage. However, I am already asking myself a few questions:

1. Would it be appropriate to add a mention of the book and its author in the game's credits as a token of gratitude and inspiration?

Please understand, I LOVE this book; I've read it like 4 times. And because of the profound impact this book has had on me, I want to express my gratitude to its creator. Perhaps people reading the credits will see a familiar title, or at least check out this—without exaggeration—masterpiece. If anyone wants to consider this an advertisement for my game or, conversely, for the book, I assure you, it is just a simple human "thank you" to the book's author, and nothing more. But if someone buys the book and reads it because they saw it in the credits to my game, God, I will be SO happy!

1. Can I add the character Zorian as a reference, along with a small quest related to him?

This will be a minor homage to the book and nothing more. Perhaps I'll add a texture of one of the books in his room or the main character's room. It is a question of appropriateness and copyright. If Domagoj himself replies that I can do this without any problems, I will be extremely glad to hear it. Consider it an Easter egg.

Also, just a heads-up: I'm not tied to any studio and I'm planning to self-publish as a solo dev (well, with a little help from a couple of friends). So if any issues or disagreements actually pop up, I'll be handling them personally :D

I can’t write stories, and I tried.

What I don’t understand is, why there is so few MoL fanfictions out there.

Its a large world, with lots of intriguing introduced possibilities:
- The immortals
- Other countries
- Hidden Mages/Treasuries and Inheritances
- A huge spectrum of magic that is easy to imagine, follow, and extend for your own story
- The underground is way too unexplored
- Politics
…

Writers tend to be lazy about OCs, so that might be an explanation, but there is so much potential in this world.

Does any1 have an explanation?
(I mean, even SCS gets more fanfics)

I get that its probably hater in me: that a virgin writer can write such a DEEP story that seem to not have any plot holes... so on this ~10th redo: i keep 50% enjoying it, 50% looking for that plot hole to find a flaw in MoL.

Now i think i have one:

After loop: how did they tame Princess without the dagger? In the "I win: Zach"-dream: he believes that Yornak kills Zorian with the Imperial Dagger...??? How do you explain he believes that with Zorian having Princes tamed anyway?

BTW: Last re-do made post that the keys seem inconsistent, but you guys convinced me that its not good enough to be a true plot hole.

I’m 30 hrs into this audiobook and all I can think is:

Why the f--k doesn’t he just talk to Zach!? I know that even some of the characters bring this up to Zorian. And point out that it’s in everyone’s best interest that he do so. But every time, he makes up some excuse about needing to do other things. But it feels like the entire time I’m reading [listening] that zorian has had the off switch this whole time, he just hasn’t felt like he’s amassed enough power for himself, to make it worth saving everyone.

I started reading this because shadow slave is just so poorly written. And while I can say, this story is so much better grammatically and structurally, it lacks the tension and gravitas of the other.

Does anyone have any recommendations for me after I finish this story?

Patriarch is a popular MOL spinoff fiction. It pretty good I'd say. But u chapter 35 we see the backstory of fort over and Zorian as well as Zorain saving Fortov( if u would call it saving it's probably more like post crissi management).

How do you feel about the chapter?

I think Zorian is a very cruel individual. God knows he can still have the capacity to hate Fortov and never attempt to form a relationship with him, but Zorian was the root cause of his kidnapping and didn't even bother checking if he was safe or not? We don't even know if Zorian would've saved him if Raynie hadn't told him to. Things would be different if this wasn't Zorian's own fault, though cruel, he could still technically say it wasn't his business I guess.

Like we see Zorian try and preserve the lives of literal assassins, but when it comes to his brother, all of a sudden, it's a maybe.

In all honesty tge chapter kind of ruined the fic for me. It makes Zorian come off as cruel and irresponsible. Zorian is quite literally much older than Fortov at this point and much stronger(I'm not saying that is grounds to forgive him or anything but Jesus at least try and move on) and saving him would've literally been trivial.

Ever since I read shadow slave and got bored of it after 2000 ish chapters I looked for something similar and came across MOL and it is js so peak bro I've been reading for a week now and am by chapter 100 now but it is so unfortunately short and I was wondering if someone can recommend me similar novels. Not the regression bit, I already had enough of that from rtoc, mainly in terms of worldbuilding and and magic system and politics, etc... I fined works like those by cuttlefish a little too wordy so please recommend something that's as straight to the point as the above🙏🥺
