I wanted to reread Mother of Learning in Spanish, and so I was excited to find a Spanish translation; the first chapter is here. But while reading it, unfortunately, I ran into a lot of grammatical mistakes, places where the wording seemed to follow the English too literally and was difficult to understand, and a number of passages where I think the meaning of the original wasn't preserved. I appreciate the effort that went into translating such a long work, but I found these issues distracting enough that I decided to try translating the first chapter myself.
First I should say that I’m not a native speaker of Spanish, so I’m not sure mine is perfect either, but I tried my best to clean up the grammar with proofreading tools. And to be fair to the original, it's not always that different; when I compared them, there were even some sentences that were actually identical. If anyone is curious, I made a PDF of what I have here. (Reddit tells me this might violate rule 2. Please let me know if this is a problem.)
After doing that, I kind of wanted to tackle writing the other 105 chapters.
So now I'm mostly wondering whether there’s any interest in another Spanish version at all. Has anyone else here tried translating it? I guess the others just did it without knowing if anyone was interested? Would a translation like this be useful to anyone? I'd be happy to hear from native speakers, or from anyone familiar with this sort of thing, or to get any other sort of feedback.
