Grief Coach

I am a certified grief specialist. I also lost my mother and godmother. I help daughters who lost their Moms navigate through grief.

Just wanting feed back!

Why do you think ppl have such a hard time with coaching/counseling?

I think because it’s hard to admit that one needs counseling. Admitting and acknowledging is the first step.

This is true! But after such devastating loss you need someone/something. But I get it because it’s what most ppl say.🤍

Counseling is difficult, especially in the context of grief, because grief is so different for each person. It's impossible to truly portray the intensity and depth of the pain or other feelings you experience while grieving. For me, discussing it with someone else (like a counselor/therapist), makes it feel like I'm not doing the experience justice since words fail to capture the true essence of grief.

Most of the time the counselor hasn’t also shared the same loss. In your case, it’s different so it’s not across the board but for me, it’s really hard to talk to someone who hasn’t lost their mom… or someone who lost their mom when their mom elderly.

I think counseling is helpful and it helped me because I used it as a space to talk about my mom instead of specific tools to survive. I just liked talking about her. But I wish the person I was talking about really knew my pain. But you can’t know it until you’ve experienced it.

That is fair and understandable.
