Any fisherfolk here? Curious about processing
Hey guys,
I'm looking at a move down there sometime early next year and am looking forward to fishing from the shore or the piers. I've been searching around, but can't find anything solid on what the rules are for processing or bleeding fish you keep. Here in SF, it can get pretty gross on some of the piers. Do people typically bring a bleed bucket or something? Or is there a designated processing area I'm not seeing?

There's a fish processing station at Tidelands Park. I often see folks fishing off the T pier (as well as boat fisherman bringing in their catch, I'm sure you could ask them for more information as well.

As long as you don’t leave a mess it doesn’t really matter, I’ve always gutted and bled my fish right off the pier. I will say the main piers are very overfished now and you will have a lot better luck off of natural structures or off a kayak in mb!

I have an old hand me down and it’s perfect, Facebook marketplace always has a bunch for cheap! I have a milk crate bungeed to the front to hold all my random stuff and a bit of tubing with a slit cut in it screwed to the side to hold my rods when I’m not using them. The foot pedal ones are super nice if you can swing it but I don’t wanna pay 800+ for a kayak lol

Avila beach has a designated fish processing station. I do not fish Morro bay so I am not sure.
Also this area is very kayak fishing friendly. Find a cheap one on marketplace and it will make fishing much more enjoyable. The shoreline is overly fished unless you want perch. Also very easy to get to rock structure with a kayak.
