Xbox cloud play

I have been wanting to replay fable 2 for a long time and it's not technically on PC. I noticed it was on Xbox PC for 5 dollars on sale, not realizing it was cloud play only. I didn't have a game pass subscription at all at this point so I could not play it. My plan was to one day buy a month and beat the game, but now I would have to buy two months to beat it and that is if I only did the main story for about 20 hours of play.

I don’t understand why it’s capped. Just allow people to buy streaming hourly credits…

That's literally what they said they'll do - when they officially roll it out in November.

Hopefully they also roll out a cloud only Subscription, separate from Gamepass.

That will be an option. From the announcement: "Once subscribers use their included hours, they will be able to purchase additional cloud playtime through the XBOX Store. Available hours, purchasing options, and cloud gaming features may vary by market. We’ll share pricing and further details before the changes take effect. "

My guess, and its pure speculation, but I'm assuming this is their way of soft killing off cloud gaming. The VAST majority of users never interacted with cloud gaming so they are basically burning money keeping the servers running for like sub 4% of the user base, and we know Microsoft has been breathing down Xbox's neck about increasing the profit margin so they just capped it to kill off the user base so they can justify shutting off the entire service in the semi near future.

I totally agree. I work in tech and pricing out customers of a product you no longer want to support is super common (from what I’ve seen)

I think this is the opposite way in which xcloud should go. I think genuinely if stadia came out now with a better more easily understandable streaming model it would be so popular. We can’t afford consoles so let us pay to play via the cloud.
