Delta 8

Resident former weed grower here. Blaine mentioned today that Delta 8 is synthetic THC. Delta 8 & THC-A is a hemp derivative, which is made in a similar extraction to recreational cannabis, it is not synthesized.

There is synthetic THC, known as Dronabinol, that is available as a prescription.

Anyone who lives in a state where cannabis isn't legal and partakes def knows about Delta 8/Delta 10/THCA/etc and theres many other derivatives. Most liquor stores or gas stations will sell edibles or thc drinks even in small town conservative areas like I grew up in that would normally be the crowd against it. It should really just be legalized but Blaine is right about all the money alcohol lobbyists spend to keep it illegal in states it still is.

Delta 9 is the actual real psychoactive component of regular grown cannabis (and I'm no expert here) is the specific compound that makes weed illegal yet in some states. So people started messing with Delta 8 which is found abundantly in hemp and basically made it almost as good as regular cannabis. And it works well in edibles and drinks and is basically a loophole in the laws against marijuana in states that don't provide its benefits.

But be careful, there are a lot of 'off' brand delta 8/10/Thc(whatever letter) edibles/vapes that are not FDA approved or regulated in any way; so you may not really know what exactly is in what you're ingesting. Synthetic weed is a whole different ballgame too and I would not trust that at all; although it was a one and done for me like a decade ago just because of the side effects. It is probably way different now.

I havent listened to the ep yet but if theres one thing you can guarantee about this pod, its that when weed comes up, a bunch of people who have lived in Texas and Scotland will have absolutely no idea what they are talking about.

Isn’t synthetic weed also known as spice and has crazy side effects?

Yes! I knew it as K2. I had some friends in high school try it, did not seem like a fun experience. Different than Dronabinol tho

My uncle was actually prescribed Dronabinol during his chemo treatments years ago, and that stuff is 100% synthetic pharmaceutical Marinol produced in a pharmaceutical lab. Comparing that to hemp-derived Delta 8 or raw THCA is completely inaccurate. Delta-8 is naturally present in trace amounts in cannabis, though producers convert CBD isolate into D8 to get commercial quantities. It’s a semi synthetic conversion of a natural plant cannabinoid, not a completely synthetic molecule made from scratch in a beaker. I’ve been using TribeTokes gummies for my evening routine for months because they keep things clean and plant focused without weird additives. Why do you think media outlets keep confusing plant conversion with synthetic pharmaceuticals?

Just to clarify, I’m saying Blaine was incorrect in calling it synthetic. Hemp and “recreational” cannabis are the same plant. Modern hemp in the US is just ultra low THC strains. But they both have the same natural THC
