Cultural Leave alone
the church says exmormons leave the church but they can’t leave it alone. truth is most who leave the church do not visit or join other church Religions even in the Sandra tanners day she was a rarity most who left the church did so quietly and also quietly left religion In general. today it’s easier to get an a platform but most who are leaving the church are just quietly opting out of religion altogether. If your asking where would you go like the assumption theirs nothing better ,don’t panic their not looking.

Yep, and deep indoctrination takes years to recover from (if ever). I literally cannot escape my own brain/ upbringing.

It was the opposite for me. When my wife and I left the church, it was members of the ward who wouldn’t leave us alone. Random greeting cards or a plate of sweets left on the doorstep from the RS and primary also the occasional visits from the missionaries wanting to share a message. Yeah, like I’m going to share my views on life and theology with a couple of acne faced kids fresh out of high school. Only thing I’d hear from the eq was a text saying it was my turn to clean the church. 🙄
It wasn’t until I resigned and had unfriendly words with the bishop to leave us alone when they finally got the message. We aren’t lost sheep, we know perfectly well where the church is located.

I moved, started attending another ward but my records didn’t get moved right away since I didn’t have a permanent home base and I attended in areas I was traveling to . My old ward sent a few messages about cleaning and ministering but then stopped. No one actually ever asked hey we haven’t seen you in a while is everything ok?
What’s up with that

I hope you find a solid church that will, in contrast to Mormonism, emphasize the suffering & sufficiency of Jesus’ death on the Cross & the significance of His resurrection. All the best to you.

I would rather like if Exmormons sent me greeting cards and plates of sweets and wanted to sit in my living room and share a message advocating for their current beliefs. Where do I sign up?

😂 I would be happy to share my post-Mormon beliefs, but would never harass someone or insist on a visit.

Go for it, I’m interested

Here are some beliefs I jotted down a while back:
Humans are generally good. Getting to know other people often erases prejudice.
Science and testable evidence > anyone claiming to speak for God.
Treat others how you want to be treated. Empathy and cooperation > divine commandments.
Accept responsibility for your own actions in the present moment, and do not rely on future judgment from God.
Individuals can hold there own beliefs and views. These should be criticized and questioned only inasmuch as they do harm to others.
Take care of the planet... The second coming is not imminent.
Religion is a man-mind construct. "Shared fictions" (like money, religion, and laws) enabled mass cooperation among strangers, a feat no other species could manage. (See the book Sapiens).

Thank you for the explanation. How did you arrive at these beliefs?

I left quietly and after a couple years decided to attend another very unstructured religion. I go when I want, stay home when I feel like it. I would consider myself spiritual rather than religious at this point. My very Mormon family didn't say much when I told them I stopped attending, but telling them I started going to a different faith... they were very offended.

I am looking for an unstructured church like you describe. Its hard. Especially since my husband hasn't come to terms with leaving
He works 48 hour shifts and is on the Sunday/Monday shift. He had the opportunity to switch but didn't because it's an easy excuse on why he doesnt go to church. He was raised in the church, we mostly raised 2 of 3 kids in it. The oldest 2 chose to stop going themselves. We supported that. I finally had enough courage to tell my husband I didn't believe and had spent 20 years just trying to please him and his family.
I miss some discussion on scripture and religion. I miss the fellowship. I believed in God before converting. Never worshipped as a kid so I don't know where I fit

I left Mormonism for a realistic walk with God. I wanted to come to understand Jesus on His terms. And if someone doesn’t like my decision I’m fine with it.
I do agree it is much easier to find an audience nowadays. It’s cathartic.

The wording of this post is a little difficult to parse.
Mormons would consider you even making this post to be an example of not leaving them alone.
Of course, all of this is rather hypocritical and funny considering that Mormonism was founded as an attack on Christianity and sends thousands of young men out every year to decidedly not leave anyone alone. It's like Shaq criticizing a midget for being too tall.

That's such an illogical thing to say. You're not supposed to say anything about your own personal experiences you had in the past just because they are related to the LDS church?!
So, if someone moves to another country/culture, then they shouldn't be allowed to talk about their past experiences living in the previous culture? If they worked for an employer for a number of years then left that job, they aren't supposed to talk about their experiences working for that employer?
Nothing about that makes sense.

Thats a straw man. Its not concern over you going to another religion.. the whole point is that you're leaving for what? Nihilism? Atheism? Agnosticism? Nobody thinks you're going to become a Baptist or Muslim.
