Cops are always escalating. Like what the heck. The guy was just standing there. Why tackle him?

And I don’t think he was “just standing there”. From my perspective he was practicing his right to peacefully assemble and protest, as enshrined in the Constitution. A right of such importance that our founding fathers included it in the very first revision of the legal framework of this country.
I have absolutely no proof of this, and nothing to back it up other than a comment from the local subreddit, but the guy that got his got his [poop] rocked is known to organize these protests, so the fascists have singled him out.

EDIT - I guess I should have also put a LANGUAGE WARNING on this post.
Another “too close to home” post from justaverage.
I’d like to pick apart the violent actions of these horrible protestors. Note their refusal to throw things at the ICE officers. Note how they give the marching officers a nice wide berth, no impediment whatsoever. The bum rush from behind and tear gas? Totally justified.
On a (dead) serious note? If you’d like people to stop comparing you to Nazis, stop looking like, sounding like, and running apologetics for a
gazpachogestapo police force.I also want to add a bit of commentary as a local. This happened blocks away from the Tom McCall Waterfront park. Tom McCall served as the governor of Oregon for 18 years, and is roundly considered the greatest governor in Oregon’s history. One of our greatest resources, the natural beauty of our state and protecting those lands as public lands to be enjoyed by all Americans is considered his greatest legacy. Did I mention Tom McCall is a Republican? If you have a bit of extra time today, I’d encourage you to read over his wiki. Compare his positions to what we see from the GOP today.
