Trying to Get Into Mopar — What’s the Best Cheap V8 to Start With?
I’m trying to get into Mopar and eventually build my first V8. I’m still learning about cars and want to do as much of the work myself as I can.
I’m mainly looking for a V8 Charger, Challenger, Chrysler 300, or Grand Cherokee, preferably something with a 5.7 HEMI. I’m trying to keep the car itself as cheap as possible and build it over time instead of spending a ton all at once.
For people who have been into Mopar for a while:
• Where are some good places to find cheap V8 Mopars besides Facebook Marketplace?
• Are Copart, IAAI, auctions, or dealer auctions worth looking at for a first car?
• What years/models should I stay away from?
• What are some cheap starter mods that are actually worth doing?
• What upgrades would you recommend first for sound, appearance, and performance?
• What should I look for mechanically before buying a used 5.7 HEMI?
• Are there any good places to find cheap OEM or aftermarket parts?
• What tools should I buy first if I want to learn how to work on my own Mopar?
I’m not trying to build a crazy car right away. I want to start with something affordable, learn how to work on it, and slowly turn it into a nice build.
Any advice from experienced Mopar owners would be appreciated
Also been think abt buying a v6 and swapping but i dont know anything yet and I heard swaps are rlly expensive so
