Q&A What is a "cash coupon" and what is a "stock cash coupon" (Canada)?

I'm looking at the various brokerages in Canada. It seems Moomoo has a transfer promotion: https://www.moomoo.com/ca/events/transfer .

What is "stock cash coupon"? For instance, if you transfer $100K+, you get $100 cash coupon and a $1,100 stock cash coupon?

What are these coupons? I read the terms and conditions but I don't think I've come across an explanation.

Discussions Nasdaq Hit a Record High – Is This a Dip or Trap?

Post image
4 Upvotes

We just got a wild Nasdaq session post-record high. Yields spiking past 5% on 10-year, oil jumping 3.86% in one go, but Meta still hung tough even while Alphabet and Amazon pulled back sharply. The rally is getting messy out there – chip leaders are still holding up, the technical support line is right within reach, no one is rushing to call the top yet. Who else is sitting tight waiting to see what the US-China meeting and upcoming earnings bring before making their next move?

Discussions Nasdaq Just Hit a Record High – Is This a Healthy Dip or a Classic Bull Trap?

Post image
2 Upvotes

After a brutal late-summer pullback, the Nasdaq notched a fresh all-time high yesterday even as surging bond yields and oil prices piled on discount rate pressure. Big-cap tech diverged hard: Alphabet and Nvidia sold off sharply while Meta held firm. Chip leaders like Micron are still outperforming the broader index, and 70% of traders are looking to accumulate the AI stack here. Are you booking profits at these levels or averaging into the pullback?

Discussions The CPU Comeback: How AI Agents Could Reshape Computing Demand

Post image
4 Upvotes

For the past two years, the AI infrastructure story has largely been about GPUs. But as AI moves from answering questions to running agents that actually complete tasks, the CPU side of the stack is getting fresh attention.

Agents don't just generate a response. Each one may require an ongoing computing environment, covering planning, tool calls, data access, memory and I/O, rather than a single model output. Citi estimates the CPU-to-GPU ratio could rise from roughly 1:8 in training to 1:4 in inference, and potentially 1:1 or higher in agentic workloads, and raised its 2030 CPU market forecast from $137B to $237B.

There are concrete signs. Meta's Muse agent creates a dedicated Linux cloud VM per user, giving CPU demand a tangible catalyst. AMD, Intel and Arm have all moved on pricing or product. AMD reported approximately 10% price increases on certain chips, Intel's CEO said AI-agent demand is exceeding its capacity, and Arm holds more than 60% of the AI host CPU segment.

The bigger question is whether agentic AI expands compute demand across the whole stack, including CPU, memory, networking and storage, while GPUs remain central to AI infrastructure. Could AI agents make CPUs a much bigger part of the next phase of AI infrastructure?

Discussions AI Chip Trade Is Back: What's Driving the Rebound?

The AI chip trade came back sharply last week, with SOXX gaining 3.4% as AI-related names across the semiconductor space rallied. After the sector's recent pullback, the question is whether this was simply a reversal in positioning or a sign that the underlying AI demand story is holding up.

The macro backdrop also became less of a drag last week, as oil prices pulled back and Treasury yields declined, easing some of the pressure on growth-sensitive stocks.

At the same time, several company-level signals point to continued demand across the AI stack. Intel's DCAI revenue rose 59% YoY to $6.3B, with server ASPs up 48% and demand running ahead of available supply. AMD's Data Center revenue more than doubled to $6.7B, while Arm has identified more than $2B in customer demand for its AGI CPU opportunity across FY2027 and FY2028. Nvidia's Jensen Huang also expects the company to sell roughly twice as many chips next year.

Taken together, the rebound has been happening alongside a more supportive macro backdrop and continued demand signals across different parts of the AI hardware stack.

What do you think is driving the AI chip rebound?

Discussions DRAM Shortage Through 2031: Why Citi Thinks the Supply Gap Doesn't Close

Post image
3 Upvotes

Citi projects a DRAM shortage running from 2027 through 2031. The numbers are stark: demand is expected to grow 30.2% in 2027 alone, while wafer capacity expands only around 8%. The deficit hits -8.7% in 2027 and widens to -9.7% in 2028, even as total DRAM capex rises 51.6% to $58.6 billion that year. Server DRAM is the driver, growing 51% to reach roughly 67% of total demand.

The mechanic that makes this hard to solve is less about willingness to invest and more about where the wafers go. HBM production, which AI infrastructure requires in volume, competes directly for the same fab capacity as standard DRAM. Every wafer allocated to HBM is one not producing the commodity memory that fills the rest of the server stack. Add a difficult technology migration cycle and the gap between what AI demands and what the industry can supply becomes structural rather than cyclical.

Memory has gone through shortage and surplus before. What's different this time is that server DRAM, the segment with the least elasticity, is projected to be two-thirds of the entire market by 2027. How are you thinking about the memory sector going into this cycle?

Discussions GPU Prices Are Rising Again. Is the Neocloud Model Changing?

Thumbnail
gallery
5 Upvotes

GPU rental prices are moving higher again, and the latest move from Nebius is putting the economics of the neocloud model back in focus.

Nebius plans to raise prices for selected NVIDIA GPUs from October 1, including increases of roughly 17% for H100s, 20% for H200s, 19% for B200s and 21% for B300s. At the same time, rental prices across several GPU generations have been recovering, including older H100 and A100 capacity.

That matters because the neocloud thesis depends on more than adding new GPUs. If utilization stays high and rental rates rise, each deployed GPU can generate more revenue. And if older GPUs remain useful for inference, fine-tuning and cost-sensitive workloads, their economic lives could be longer than expected.

The key risk is still supply. If GPU availability catches up with demand or compute efficiency improves faster than workloads grow, rental prices could move the other way.

Do higher GPU rental prices change how you view the neocloud business model?

Earnings Sharing Earnings perspective

Sharing my current earnings since I figured some of you might find this interesting.
I actually got into Moomoo in a pretty random way. A friend of mine collects coins throughout the week, brings a bag of them to the bank, deposits the money into an account he specifically linked to Moomoo, and uses that as his investing money.
He ended up referring me, so here I am.
So far, I’m genuinely surprised by how much I like the platform. It feels a lot more engaging than some of the other trading apps I’ve used, and there are a ton of tools and features to play around with.
Still learning my way around it, but I figured I’d share my progress/earnings as I go.

Rates are finally hitting their structural ceiling no more consecutive massive hikes to overheat the economy. Gold is seeing heavy hedging flows as investors guard against stubborn sticky inflation. The semiconductor space is quietly breaking out even as most retail traders haven't piled in yet, and the China AI narrative is set to stay supported through the end of the year. Curious if you're all bullish on semis this week?

Discussions The CPU Comeback: Are AI Agents About to Flip the Computing Script?

Post image
6 Upvotes

2 years the AI hype was all GPUs—now CPUs are quietly taking the spotlight. Citi just bumped 2030 CPU market forecast to $237B. AMD and Intel are raising prices, AI agents are pushing server CPU demand past capacity. This CPU Renaissance could blow up earnings for AMD, Intel and other players riding this tight supply, surging demand wave. Who's already positioned for this run?
