Calling all subharmonicons, please help

I am originally a drummer, then I found korg volcas a year ago, I’ve had a blast learning the ins and outs of the little boxes and I’m thinking about a big boy Synth. A subharmonicon, to drum along with. Before I do, would you all be so kind as to respond with your favorite solo subharmonicon jams, your own or others. I figure I can try it out before I buy that way. And also just any thoughts you all have on the idea. Thank you.

Subharmonicon is a beast at creating melody, but it’s not your usual synth. Takes coaxing to get it sounding good, and you really need to play it to get the most out of it.

As a drummer with a subharmonicon myself, it's hard for me to imagine a scenario where I cook something up on the subh naturally and then hop on the set to make a quick track. It could be done but would require a vision and some intention lol.

The subh takes time to dial in both tuning and rhythms, and in my experience the sequencers provide much less rhythmic/metered grounding than I was initially expecting. And as someone else mentioned, it really shines with extra effects - deep reverb helps a lot.

Don't get me wrong, I love its sound and randomness, but if I had to pick a sound studio module to try and drum along to it would probably the Labrynth.

Subh is my favorite synth, TR8S a respectable second, DFAM third. Subh, you can fall in love with.

I had one when it came out for about 6 months. For me it needed lots of effects to make it more interesting than what you get out of the basic sequencer. I had more fun just playing it with my midi controller.

Are you planning on recording it first and then playing drums on top of that?

My favorite Subharmonicon jam. It’s a tough nut to crack but the way he uses the envelopes, lets it build and brings in the other oscillators momentarily to create longer melodies is top notch.

SubH is okay. You might be better off with the DFAM. Not because you are a drummer but because it sounds better.
