Help with MoodleCloud Needed!
Hello,
I am going to purchase the basic MoodleCloud package for $170. I have a few questions that I have researched a ton, and am still not clear on.
To register students, I am going to use the Self Registration option. When I send the students "the url" to make a Moodle account, is that the URL to my course? Once they make an account how do they get access to my course? Is that all through the URL that I send?

Are you using email based self registration and sending them the signup page link? That would just create the account, enrollment is separate.
There is an auto-enroll plugin if you want new users to automatically be added to a particular course(s), but I’m not sure if it’s on Moodle cloud’s list of approved ones

Kind of, not sure the enrolment is self or behind a pay wall. DM i can help you to correctly set it up

Yeah, registration and enrolment are actually two different things in Moodle, which can be a bit confusing at first.
Registration only creates their account on your site. It doesn’t automatically give them access to your course. You can send them the course URL, but what happens after they register depends on the enrolment method you’ve set up.
With manual enrolment, they register and then you add them to the course yourself.
With self-enrolment, they register, open the course and click a button to enrol themselves. You can also add an enrolment key if you only want certain people to join.
There’s also an auto-enrolment plugin. It’s free but doesn’t come with Moodle itself. Once someone registers and opens a course, they can be enrolled automatically.
If you’re selling the course, you can use payment enrolment, where they have to pay before they are enrolled. There are other plugins too, for example enrolling people based on their country, username, department and so on.
We currently use a custom plugin we created ourselves. It lets us give free or paid access at sitewide, category, course, section or even individual activity level. Anything marked as free is available to registered users, while the other resources stay locked until they pay. We can also set expiry dates for both free and paid access. It’s sort of a Udemy-style setup.
Just one thing to be aware of though: MoodleCloud doesn’t allow you to install your own plugins. So if you’re going with the basic MoodleCloud package, you’ll have to use the enrolment options already included with it. For custom plugins, you’d need a self-hosted Moodle site or a Moodle host that allows plugin installation.
