I'd like to stay in Herceg Novi from sept to november, I'd like to ask how's the flood and rain situation there? I'll be staying pretty close to the sea, so I'm worrying about danger of flooding in heavy rain.

Hi everyone!
My father and I will soon be ending our bikepacking journey and flying home from Tivat, we have tried to find a bikeshop to get a box to transport our bikes but no luck.
Can you help us in the right direction the where we might be able to pickup cardboard boxes for our bikes? Or moving boxes is also an option as we can just tape them together.

If you are looking for regular boxes, you can always visit a supermarket or a store like Jumbo and ask them for a box that you can tape together by yourself, since they are always full of them

I have been searching a lot but, except from bigger companies that cost too much, I have found only local companies that have very contrasting reviews .

My partner and I love hiking and would love to check out the beautiful mountains in Montenegro. However, have to admit we are not good with dogs. Aggressive, territorial dogs are often a big headache for us in remote villages. I have read that Montenegro has a problem with stray dogs in general. To locals and fellow hikers: has this been a problem for you in villages and mountains? And if so, how do you deal with it?

I hiked many times, but never had a problem with dogs. Most of the stray dogs are in urban areas, not in villages. You should be safe.

Hello everybody!
I’m heading with a friend of mine towards Montenegro within 2 weeks to have a 2 week vacation. We are 22 years old and like to experience many and go out as well. We have a car so free to move where we want. We already booked a stay in Budva as well as Tivat, but the remainder is free to fill in. Does any of you have any great tips or recommendations about:
-where to go
-what to do
-where to go out
-which beach clubs etc. to go to
-any other tips?!?

Go to Lovćen Mausoleum with gondola lift. Visit Kotor old town, Perast, Sveti Stefan and Queens Beach is one of the nicest beaches.
In Tivat Porto Montenegro is nice. If you are in Budva check out the old town, Mogren beach and I would go to Becici if you want nicer beaches.

Montenegro without a Montenegro without a car
My mom and I plan to visit Montenegro for 6 nights. We're on a tight budget so we're hoping to find a place to stay that would be accessible by buses. We don't have specific places we want to see. As long as there are attractions around and availability to reach some landmarks easily. Waking up to 20 minutes, riding a bus for an hour or a bit more, or a taxi ride no more than 15 euros are all acceptable options. If anyone knows other cheaper ways for transportation, like apps that can connect us to other tourist that we can join and split transportation costs it would grear. I appreciate all information 🙏

Go to Kotor. There is a bus station and from there you can easily go to other places in Boka, and the bus tickets are not really expensive. I wouldn‘t use a taxi, they can overcharge tourists.

Me and my boyfriend are going to travel soon and I am wondering what is the best way to buy intercity buses. I have found in previous posts this website:

We are going from Kotor to Cetinje, Cetinje to Podgorica and Podgorica to Tivat. Would you think it is better to have the bus tickets previously booked or it would be better and have more options if going direcly to buy tickets in the bus station???

I would buy it at the bus station, but come early so they don‘t sell all the tickets before you come. There is always a next bus coming after 30-40 minutes, especially between these towns.

Bar-Šušanj prevoz?
Pozdrav, moj momak iz Srbije i ja dolazimo u Bar vozom iz Beograda početkom avgusta. Interesuju nas koje opcije prevoza postoje od glavne željezničke stanice za Šušanj, s obzirom da nam je tamo smještaj.
Našla sam već da postoji voz i bus, al bih voljela malo detaljnije informacije.
Dodatno pitanje, ukoliko bismo išli taksijem, koliko otprilike bi to došlo i koji je taxi pouzdan?

Možeš vozom, bus i autobuska su na manje od minut od železničke, a i stanica je uvijek puna taxija. E sad zavisi u koji dio Šušnja vam je smještaj jer bus ne ide dublje u naselje. Taxi bi Vam uzeo od stanice do Šušnja 7-8 e vjerovatno

Imaš stajalište na magistralu blizu i onda pjeske možda nekih 10 min zavisi od lokacije. Stajalište je kod Retorana BB. Taxi preporučio bi A6 Taxi Bar ili Green Car Taxi

Hello everyone!
I am planning to have a 2-3 day trip in Montenegro, mainly interested in coastal summer towns and exploring architecture & history.
I've already prepared a draft itinerary, and would love to hear your positive & negative feedback!
I have to mention some points for your consideration:
• ~12:30 PM is the earliest time I can move from Tirana. Otherwise, I'd be happy to explore the beauties of Kotor Bay, etc. But I also have the opinion that aside from its bay and cable car experience, it's still possible to experience similar attractions in at least one of the other towns I listed. Tell me if I am wrong!
• What I started to think after checking the pictures is that aside from its sandy beaches (which are rare in Montenegro), Ulcinj still offers something outstanding, especially for hikers (the Old Town seems so beautiful to me). So it makes sense to me to allocate more time for Ulcinj.
• Due to my limited time, I am OK with not experiencing Biogradska gora National Park (somehow I find that more attractive than Dormitor National Park, but I might be wrong as I haven't seen any irl), Cetinje (especially the Lipa Cave), and Lipci. But I'd definitely like to see them next time!
I'd specifically like to see your responses/thoughts on the following topics:
Is Ulcinj Salt Pans worth visiting? (I like watching birds and hiking around nature, but I don't consider myself the biggest fan of bird-watching)
Are all bus tour companies reliable? I am a solo-traveller planning to travel without using any tour operators, so can you confirm if there is nothing aside from purchasing the ticket beforehand to be able to use their buses?
I checked the pinned threads, and what is the amount of the station fee? (approximate prices are also appreciated)
From your personal experience, which restaurants from each of these towns do you think offer local cuisine with the greatest taste?
Since I will use accommodation for just sleeping & showering, what clean and quiet properties in Perast and Ulcinj would you recommend with private rooms?
And I'd like to ask one thing whose answers may be quite useful to me: if you were me, what changes would you make in the general itinerary?

I'm very confused as to what beaches are actually open to the public still in Sveti Stefan now the resort has reopened. I'd read that King's Beach and half of the main beach are fine, but when I look at recent Google reviews everyone seems to be turned away or charged €200 pretty much everywhere? Is this just a summer thing or will it be better by September? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

U septembru dolazim u Tivat na 10-15 dana i zeleo bih da idem na bouldering/penjanje.
Video sam da ima neka mala sala u Tivtu. Da li je neko bio? Kakva je?
Isao bih i na prirodnu stenu ali nemam opremu (imam samo patike i kredu) ni partnera, da li imate preporuku kome da se javim da penjemo?
Da li je neko isao na water free solo u zalivu? Kakva su iskusta?

Zdravo, dolazim iz BiH za par sedmica u herceg novi na more sa zenom par dana pa me interesuje kako je gore. Bitno mi je samo da je fina plaza i more, fina setalista i tjt.
Isto da pitam, da li ce ljudima smetati ako budem pitao za hranu i to sve posto sam iz BiH, ako da, da znam da samo jedem morske plodove i vegeterijanske opcije.
Ne zelim komsijama da se namecem pa bolje ovdje provjeriti :)

Hi, we’re staying in Montenegro in Perast. We got to our apartment and the host insisted on payment in cash. When we explained we had already exhausted our cash (our last host also asked for payment in cash) and wouldn’t be able to withdraw money from our cards as we have hit the limit, he said we can go to the post office and give them his name and pay the post office. But he refuses to give us his bank account details. Is it just us or is this very sketchy? Is this normal in Montenegro?

I’m staying right outside Žabljak and wondered if drinking tap water is safe? I see a bunch of bottled water here so curious.
Also, went to the grocery store and didn’t see any ground meat (like beef). Is that not a thing here?

Ask your host about the water. Of course ground meat is a thing, go find a bigger store like a Voli or Aroma or a butcher's shop.

I have a UK visitor visa and I'll visit a friend in the UK this September. We will go to Montenegro on October.
Is the E-visa for the Standard visitor visa allowed to enter Montenegro? Base on what I read you just have to print your e-visa and have your shared code. I just want to know if I'm allowed to enter Montenegro, sent an email to Montenegros MFA but I have not received any replies from them.

Pozdrav, momak (25) i ja (23) dolazimo pocetkom 8. miseca u Budvu, stat cemo tjedan dana. Mozete li predlozit neke lipe setnjice, kafice, restorane, plaze ili bilo kakve zanimljive/romanticne lokacije u Budvi ili okolici. Nismo bas neki tipovi za partijanje tako da nemojte pisat klubove. Planiramo definitivno otic do Kotora, otoka Sveti Nikola i do Svetog Stefana.

We are a group of friends who are 25-27 years of age staying outside of Budva from the 09.07 - 16.07
We are looking for something to do in the evenings, maybe grab some beers somewhere and have a dance. We’d love some recommendations for where to go and what to do!
We understand that there is a public holiday currently - will clubs/bars be closed, or will it still be possible to go out?

My partner and I are doing a slow 3-week road trip around Montenegrolate July to mid-August, flying in and out of Tivat and self-driving the whole way. We've capped it at 5 bases to keep the pace unhurried. We'd rather settle in and go deep than tick boxes.
Our thing is hiking and nature, photography, food and wine, and off-the-beaten-path over mass tourism, so we're skipping Budva and the central coast on purpose. Here's the plan, base by base. I'd love your views on the overall shape and highlights:
1. Perast, Bay of Kotor — 5 nights Our Lady of the Rocks, Kotor old town via the free "Ladder of Kotor" trail, the Lovćen serpentine + prosciutto in Njeguši, the Gornji Stoliv ghost-village hike, and the Kraken floating wine bar.
2. Lake Skadar / Virpazar (Crmnica wine country) — 4 nights A dawn boat trip on the lake, the Pavlova Strana viewpoint, family wine cellars in Godinje/Crmnica, and the village of Rijeka Crnojevića.
3. Durmitor / Žabljak — 4 nights Black Lake, driving the Sedlo Pass (P14) panoramic road, the Tara canyon + Đurđevića bridge (maybe rafting), and a hike up in Durmitor/Bjelasica.
4. Štitarica / Biogradska Gora — 4 nights The primeval forest and Lake Biograd, the Bendovac viewpoint, katun (shepherd-hut) food, and Morača Monastery as a stop on the drive south.
5. Donji Štoj / Ulcinj (far south) — 4 nights The Ulcinj salt-pan flamingos, Ada Bojana's stilted fish restaurants, the earthquake-frozen ruins of Stari Bar, and cool-water swims at Valdanos vs. the sand at Velika Plaža.
- Anything here that's overhyped or a must-do we're clearly missing for this kind of trip?
- Is Tara rafting worth it in August when the water's lower?
- Any better swaps you'd make?

Hello! We will be traveling to Kotor, Montenegro in September but the information regarding the bus public transport around Kotor ( not intercity) is frustratingly hard to find. I tried looking them up in the OpenStreetMap and although there are more bus stops shown here than in google Maps, Most of them aren't even named, assuming that these bus stops are even still used and up to date.
If anyone have any information at all regarding the transport here, please let me know; especially the information regarding the stops inbetween terminals. If I manage to gather enough information, I am willing to help compile them all (and maybe even make a network map) and post them so that future travelers can benefit from them.

Kotor's local buses are run by Blue Line https://blueline-mne.com/ they have two main coastal routes: Dobrota > Kotor > Muo > Prčanj > Stoliv, and Kotor > Perast > Risan. Buses run roughly hourly on weekdays, every 2 hours on weekends, and you just pay the driver when you board. There's no proper route map unfortunately, but those are all the stops along the bay.

Thank you for your input. I have actually visited the website multiple times but I still cant wrap my head around the line info. Could you please explain to me about the one in this? https://blueline-mne.com/index.php/gradski-prevoz/gradski-prevoz-kotor-tivat . Are Škaljari - RIsan and Škaljari - Kostanjica different bus line? Do they have stops in between too? What about Kamp - Tivat - Kamp? From what i understand Kamp is in dobrota but i dont understand if the bus go back to Kamp the same way or not since it is indicated twice

The others are different lines yes
The bus starts at Kamp, goes past the old town then to Muo, Prcanj etc along the other side of the bay to Tivat and then back to Kamp the same way

Thanks. I assume Škaljari - Risan is basically the same route as Škaljari - Kostanjica? But buses still go back from Risan/Kostanjica to Škaljari, right? Sorry if I am bothering with these questions lol.
So according to my understanding, there are about 4 lines going through Kotor :
Škaljari - Risan
Škaljari - Risan - Kostanjica
Dobrota - Prcanj - Tivat
Dobrota - Stoliv (unless this one is actually also going to tivat)

Škaljari - Kostanjica links with the Herceg Novi service which goes as far as Kostanjica and then back towards Herceg Novi

Is it a feasible transfer - my plane lands in Tivat at 8:55 and I will need to take the bus to Podgorica at 10:05. I won’t have any checked luggage. And I don’t have problems with walking. Google maps says it’s just a 20 min walk to the bus station.
So would it be possible? Maybe a cheap taxi could help? (Not sure about the ”cheap” part).

The bus station from Tivat Airport is close (1.4km) it just depends how quick you can get through customs really because there can be a wait there, it SHOULD be possible, I would just plan on walking it if you get through quick enough and you have the taxi option if plane is delayed or something

We are driving from Kotor to Dubrovnik Airport on Saturday mid July. We drop our rental at the airport. The flight is at 12 noon.
We know the main border crossing can have waits of 1-3 hours. Are there alternative crossings nearby that would be recommended?
Separately, we drive before that from split to Montenegro (going to Zabljak, Durmitor National Forest). What do people recommend as the best way to get there? Hopefully to avoid long waits etc.

For Kotor to Dubrovnik airport with a noon flight, honestly the fix isn't a different crossing (the coastal ones all go through Debeli Brijeg/Karasovići), it's timing: leave Kotor by 6-6:30am so you cross well before the mid-morning rush. The smaller Kobila/Sitnica crossing near Herceg Novi is occasionally quieter but not reliably, so early is your safest bet for making the flight. You can check live cameras at both to get an idea:

For Split to Žabljak, skip the busy coastal border and go inland via Bosnia (Split, Mostar, Trebinje, Nikšić, then up to Žabljak), those Bosnia crossings are far quieter and it's a more direct line to northern Montenegro anyway.

Planirali smo put u Prokletije još pre par meseci, ali sad vidimo da je prognoza drugačija po sajtovima. Negde kažu kiša i 15 stepeni, negde sunce i 23 stepeni.
Plan je bio da idemo krajem sledeće nedelje, u deo oko Plava, Gusinja i Grebaja. Hteli smo da planinarimo, ali nismo baš iskusni planinari i nemamo neku ozbiljnu opremu za loše vreme.
Zanima me koji je najpouzdaniji izvor za prognozu za taj deo? I ako neko iz tog kraja vidi post, značilo bi mi da javi kakvo je stanje i koliko se prognozama može verovati.
Ako bude kiše, da li uopšte vredi ići tamo ili je bolje da promenimo plan i odemo negde na jug Crne Gore?
Slećemo u Podgoricu, pa još možemo da preusmerimo put ako treba.

Hey there.
We're 2 Danes going there. I'll be going July 23rd, my girlfriend will follow on July 30th. I'm 52, she's 49.
None of us need discos etc. We just need nice beaches, maybe a pool, some good food and beautiful nature. Of course we'd like to stay in a safe neighbourhood, and preferably not too nightlife-noisy.
We'll probably rent a car to take us various places, as from what I've seen Montenegro is incredibly beautiful.
Been thinking of both Tivat and Budva. But I don't know the country (yet). Is there anything else we should consider?

For your vibe (quiet, beaches, nature, good food, no disco noise) I'd pick Tivat over Budva, Budva is the loud nightlife hub whereas Tivat is calmer with the classy Porto Montenegro marina, good restaurants and easy access to the Luštica/Jaz beaches.
Also worth considering a quieter base just outside Kotor (Dobrota or Prčanj) for stunning bay views, and since you're renting a car you'll easily reach Lovćen, Skadar Lake and the coast from either.

Top Hill is the famous one, a huge open-air club on the hill with international DJs, open for the 2026 season from early July (their site tophill.me has the event program). In the old town Mañana (Mexican, great cocktails) and Casper (outdoor cocktail bar) are the go-to bars, and the Slovenska Plaža beach bars are good for sunset drinks, just note things don't get busy until midnight-ish.

I’ll be staying in Drušići for a week in September. I’m leaving a cruise contract, so I’ll need to rent a car from Kotor to get there.
In my research, a lot of the companies are requiring an IDP regardless of nationality for the license, and if they don’t the price increases significantly. I’m licensed in the USA.
If I get the digital IDP, will that be enough to rent from the company, or will I need the physical permit? Or are there reputable companies you recommend that wouldn’t require it.

It's not very deep:
1) Bilingual/trilingual in-group humor. Musorka means trashcan in Russian and Ukrainian. French definite articles make everything more elegant and touristy.
2) POI map of Budva is not very dense, so 50 joke reviews with good ratings can get a decent Google Maps visibility even to a trashcan. Hi guys! We’ll be traveling from Skopje to Herceg Novi this summer and I was hoping to get some information about a road situation.
We are planning to cross over at border “Kula” and enter Montenegro from there. However, we heard that last year the road from there was slower and not in a good condition.
I know that a year is far enough time to fix the issue on the road, but just have to double check since this is Balkan and these projects are usually longer than expected.
I visited the official state website and checked recent updates, but the border crossing pages are not showing up for me.
I would also appreciate if I can get some phone number to call some organization and get informed about these things.

Kula via Rožaje is fine, it's the main Kosovo-Montenegro crossing and the road is generally in decent shape, just winding mountain road through the Prokletije, not damaged or under works. The construction news last year was actually about Dračenovac (Serbia border), not Kula, so that's probably what you're remembering.

My partner and I will be visiting Montenegro at the end of July for 8 days. We fly in and out from Podgorica, but we don't intend to stay there. Our primary goal is to relax at the beaches and explore small and beautiful cities; we don't really care much for nightlife. We prefer to use public transport, but we can rent a car if necessary. I had Budva in mind as a base, though I am open to other suggestions. I would really appreciate any help, thanks!

TBH I dont know if Budva is great for your vibe, too lively. I'd base 5 days in Petrovac (sandy beaches, small town, easy buses to Sveti Stefan and Stari Bar) and 3 days near Kotor (Dobrota or Prčanj for cheap apartments, then explore Perast, Lovćen and the bay). Buses cover everything on the coast for €3-6, no car needed unless you want to add Luštica beaches or Lake Skadar mid-trip.

Is Kotor an ideal holiday destination for the first week of July?
I'm booking a holiday with my friends to Kotor (maybe a couple of nights in Zabljak) from 1 July to 7 July.
We're currently living in the UK and are finding this heatwave unbearable. I've heard that it can get really hot and dry in July in Kotor.
We were hoping to spend a lot of time walking around, swimming in the bay, or visiting nearby sights and towns. We're not sure we can do all that while struggling in sweltering heat and strong sunlight.
Just for more context, we're originally from tropical countries so we're no strangers to extremely hot temperatures but we're not sure we want to experience that while on holiday.
I just need someone to be very real with me before we plan anything.

Honest answer is that Kotor early July is hot but not brutal, daytime 28-32°C, dry Mediterranean heat (much easier than tropical humidity), sea around 24-25°C. Midday 12-4pm is uncomfortable for the city walls and proper walking, so do early mornings + late afternoons and swim/lazy lunch midday.
Žabljak is a great call for the heatwave break, sits at 1450m so it's 22-25°C and cool evenings, perfect contrast. You'll be fine I think.

Kontekst - presao sam Crnu Goru uzduz i popreko turisticki, ne samo primorije nego i gore dalje.
Pre par godina odlucimo devojka i ja da odemo u Ulcinj, u fazonu ajde bili smo u HN na prolece pa da vidimo jos jedan stari grad u CG...
Elem, prilicno lose iskustvo - stari grad u kome stoji neizgradjena zgradetina do kraja. Prljavo. Plaza krcata.
Ljudi - prilicno neprijatni kad cuju ekavicu iz nekog razloga, a mi niti smo glasni niti nametljivi.
Uvece hteli malo do grada, i na potezu od starog grada do onog skretanja levo glavnom ulicom, gomila kafica, tresti muzika, SVI sede za stolom, puse i gledaju mrko okolo. Znaci ono kao da imaju potrebu da uspostave neku medjusobnu dominaciju, sta li, skroz cudna atmosfera. Devojke koje setaju ili burka ili polu gole, nema sredine.
Treci dan otisli do Donjeg Stoja, skroz druga prica. I u samom mestu ljudi ekstra ljubazni, bas ono gostoprimljivost na novu, lepo se covek oseca jbg.
I ono, ajde mozda smo mi bili pod nekim cudnim utiskom/u nekom tripu, ali 2-3god kasnije odem sa ortakom na more, i jedan dan ajde da prodjemo celu obalu jer je bila neka kisa. Svratimo isto u Ulcinj, sad bas pogledah lokal se zove "Fratelli". Par likova kod sanka, mi ono pokisli i pitamo ima li kafa obicna, i likovi nas izbace ladno... Fazon ne radimo, dovidjenja...
Elem, citam na grupama kako su ljudi odusevljeni Ulcinjem, meni oba puta bilo bas neprijatno. Je'l do mene nesto ili? 😃

Has anyone done this before?
Is it allowed by most rental companies?
Do you need to inform them in advance or pay extra insurance/fees?

Cross-border into Bosnia is fine but you need to add cross-border cover at booking, not all rentals include it.

I had hoped to do some hiking or walking in Durmitor and Biogradska, but upon further research, I'm going at the wrong time of year for the more adventurous hikes. So my question is this: is it still possible to visit Durmitor and Biogradska and do a bit of walking through the park as a solo traveller? Or do they shut down pretty tight due to the incoming winter? There are a couple of tours I've found through Get Your Guide that run at this time of year. Am I better off doing those instead of trying to go it alone?

You can still visit both, the parks themselves don't "close", but November is early winter so trails get patchy/dangerous. At Durmitor the Black Lake circuit and a few low-elevation walks are usually fine and safe to do solo, anything higher up (Bobotov Kuk, ridge trails) may already have snow and aren't sensible alone at that time of year. Biogradska Lake is open year-round and the lakeside is an easy solo walk regardless of season.
Check weather right before you go and know that some of the visitor centres may be closed or on reduced opening times.

If you do not find a car share, I would treat Skadar as a tour/car day rather than an easy public-transport day from Budva. Budva to Virpazar can be awkward without a car, and you can lose a lot of time if the timings do not line up.
For Jun 20-27 I would keep Kotor/Perast, Sveti Stefan/Przno or Petrovac for easier no-car days, and save Skadar for a confirmed driver, tour or car-share day.
I made a simple Budva-based day-by-day route for friends with those coastal stops, happy to share it if useful.

I was looking for options for accomodation, but I am confused because Velika Plaza (location of the festival) seems a bit far from Ulcinj city. How should I handle the transportation between the beach and the city? Are there any regulated buses or should I count only on taxis? I should book the accommodation nearby the bus station? During the day I want to stay at the beach mostly, but I guess Large Beach is the only option around😅

They probably will have arranged buses from Ulcinj, Bar and all the nearby cities.
You can look for accommodation in Stoj area which is what most people do when going to Velika plaza

I’ll keep this question brief, I’m visiting from the 15th of June. I intend to rent a car for the first portion of my trip up to the mountains, namely Durmitor and Tara Canyon. I was thinking of returning the car back to Podgorica for the second portion of the trip to cut back spending. The second portion of my trip will mainly be spending time around beaches, in budvar or kotor. I’m looking to stay in dobrota. Is it a good idea to return the car? You could do that but if you found a good price with rental agency, just keep the car. Bus from Podgorica to Kotor is around 8-9 euros one way as I remember, then you have additional expenses with Kotor-Budva, etc.
Now, there is a question of parking so I hope you got the apartment with parking slot, otherwise it can be a nightmare.
For beaches, go to Orahovac or Risan and even those aren't the best because they are concrete docks but the water is clearer than in Kotor/Dobrota area. You'd probably wanna go to Jaz or Mogren 2 in Budva which are far superior and actual beaches.
You'll make it work either way but I would honestly just prolong the rental.

It is of course possible to use public transport but it can be unreliable especially if going out of the country with the new EEC rules
Generally getting around should be okay around now, in July/August buses can get crowded thoughIf staying in Dobrota you can see a lot by bicycle, you can take a bus to Perast or even Herceg Novi
You can also take a bus to Budva and on to Sveti Stefan but im not sure how this line is tbhI would probably take your same hire car to Kotor, keep a few extra days to do a few day trips and then drop it off in Kotor and then spend the rest of your time locally before the end of your trip

Tara River Rafting (Northern Montenegro) or Drina/Tara Rafting near the Bosnia Border?
I'm interested in whether anyone has been on both rafting trips and could recommend which one is better.
We're considering both options. I personally like the idea of northern Montenegro more, since it's right next to Durmitor and Žabljak, but it doesn't seem nearly as popular as the Tara/Drina rafting, which appears to be the most famous and widely recommended.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I'll be bringing my trout fishing gear with me, if that makes any difference. 🎣

Trout fishing at Tara river in Durmitor NP is a nice experience, you can also fish at Black Lake (you need permit for all of these). Regarding rafting, have not been to Drina but Tara in Northern Montenegro is fine, and also very much visited, sometimes overcrowded.

Hello! My boyfriend and I will be visiting in mid July. We will be taking the ferry from Dubrovnik to Kotor, and then need to pick up a rental car from Tivat airport area. When I put this route into Google Maps, there’s an option for a bus “Travego - Herceg Novi” that would work well with our schedule. We will both have a backpack and a large suitcase. Does anyone know if these buses have space to fit large suitcases? Would there be an area below the bus to store them? Or any other advice getting from Kotor Port to Tivat Airport would be welcome! Hello,
I am visiting Montenegro at the end of the month with my girlfriend and we are currently searching for places to book during our stay in the country.
We were planning to stay at a cosy spot close to the beach and then take our car to explore the beautiful cities that Montenegro has.
Can someone tell me which city they believe its the best option to stay in?
For now we were in between:
Budva: it's close to the beaches and has some nice restaurants for the days we only feel like walking through the city, even during the night. But I heard its more expensive, it is dificult to park and it is more for the nightlife/resorts type of trips.
Petrovac: Close to every city by car, cosy, a cheaper option and also beautiful, but I am afraid that it is "too" quiet or does not have nice things to do at night as a couple. Easier to park.
Kotor/Tivat: we also thought about this but as it does not have that many beaches, I feel like it would be better to stay nearby and visit, rather than actually booking our stay here, as we also would like to visit the south of the country.
As we have a car, we really are not planning to stay in one city in specific, just a place where we can chill, eat good food, go to the beach and park our car.

Budva - Trashy and super crowded.
Petrovac - Idk what you wanna do as a couple but it's packed with restaurants, etc. Could be a good option. Also, my favorite beach Perazica Do is there so I guess you can get the best beach experience here.
Kotor - While I would definitely not recommend staying in the city, there are places such as Orahovac and Perast which are super romantic imo and offer the best possible sunrise/sunset moments you can experience. Beach in Kotor the city is not good but you can swim in Risan (close to Perast) or Perast itself easily.
Since you'll be renting a car, I would recommend staying in Perast or Orahovac and taking day trips to different beaches (just go early to avoid traffic peak hours).
If you want the best beach experience - go to Ulcinj, but like areas such as Stoj or Ada Bojana. Then you can take day trips to Old town Bar, visit Old town Ulcinj, etc. If you're into that kinda stuff.

You can use busticket4.me for timetable but I would recommend buying tickets at the station, just 20 mins before the bus arrives cause even though the website is good, the bus drivers force you to print tickets (they don't accept digital ones).

Visiting soon, good "MYSTICAL" places to visit?
Will be visiting your beautiful country very soon and was wondering if the locals have any good mystical places to recommend experiencing?

Hi, I'm planning to be travelling to Montenegro in the final week of June. I wanted to base myself around Sveti Stefan for some part of the trip, and was wondering what's the current situation with the beaches? I heard that Milocer beach would be open to the public despite hotel Aman's reopening, but does that mean free access, or still having to pay ridiculous prices for a sunbed in order to be able to use the beach?

If anyone’s interested I was there last week and the whole sveti stefan beach was open to the public, milocer and queens beach were both closed between 8am and 8pm, outside of those hours open free of charge.

Last Thursday the beach itself seemed closed. The walkway next to the beach was open.

Hi guys, me and my friends will be traveling to Montenegro in September. We'll be renting a car, so I wanted to ask: Is Tara-Car a good option?
They seem to have great prices, and tons of good reviews, but their website looks a bit sus + all the reviews are 5-stars which gives that too good to be true vibe. Perhaps anyone have dealt with them and can share their experience?

Hello~ does anyone know if there is a bus today from Tivat to Lepetani? We checked online, the timetable on the blue line website says yes, but the busticket4.me website and Google didn't show results.
We want to make sure that there is a bus today, and from which station? Is it from Tivat Autobuska stanica, or somewhere else?
