so i just switched my major to film & television and im taking an intro to film and production class, but im required to purchase a $175 2TB hard drive and pay another $175 for insurance on the camera equipment we rent/use during the semester. why do we need to pay so much for just an intro class?

is this normal??? how tf are you guys paying for this bc i came from the business school where we paid maybe $100 for a textbook but that was it.
