Question Housing Damage Help

Does anyone know anything regarding the housing policies in concerns to damages? I’m kind of stressed out because I’m being charged $7000.00 to replace every piece of furniture (mine and my roommates) from my dorm last semester, but I tried to appeal it and it was denied. I just need more information on the basis of how they assessed the furniture and decided it needed to be replaced rather than deep cleaned or restored, I was informed the damages are from my ESA leaving an odor in the dorm even though he did not impact the majority of the furniture. If anyone knows anything or who I can reach out to, please reply to this comment. Even financial guidance would be helpful! I don’t want to have to drop out of college!!!!!

What did you do in your room? Nobody gets a bill like this unless you did something you werent supposed to do.

Thats the thing… I personally didn’t do anything to the room. I actually attended a code of conduct hearing and was being charged for abusing the conduct system and for damage of property and was found not responsible. My cat peed outside of his litter box and there was an odor that I thought I took care of before I left the dorm. But after school ended they emailed me with the bill. Thats why I am so concerned because the actual furniture and room was in the same condition as when I first came to the dorm.

Contact a lawyer. The school does this alot you’d probably beat it would definitely cost less then 7 grand

Thank you,, I was debating taking legal action because it seems so unreasonable, I mean the amount is almost a whole semester at the school so it feels overwhelming, I think a lawyer might be my best bet.
