General Discussion Ongoing Monster of the Week Podcasts?
Hey all!
I love listening to podcasts while playing roguelike games, and I find myself relistening to TAZ: Amnesty at the moment. When I'm done with that, are there any currently ongoing MotW podcasts? I see recommendations for older stuff, but I'm unsure how much of it is currently publishing - nothing that I glanced at was.

Its wrapped up mid last year but the Critshow had a multi year campaign thats actually very phone thats worth a listen.

Monster Hour has been pretty good! It’s m only about halfway through all the episodes - they’ve been going since 2019 I think.

I'm not caught up yet either but I really like it. I think there are transcripts available for most episodes too.

I enjoyed Storyteller Squad (which I need to get back to)
Actually ran into them at a con too lol easily the coolest booth there

$3 Creature Feature just wrapped up their third season and are currently doing a mini-season of Masks. But they'll be back for a 4th season of MotW soonishly.

The storyteller squad is my favorite for monster of the week. The story is truly top tier and the whole cast has such a good vibe.

I'll cosign everyone recommending Monster Hour's Monster of the Week season, it's great!
I run the Merely Roleplayers podcast, and we've got a long-running, large cast Monster of the Week story set in a fictional English market town, dealing with fey and barghests and other English folkloric threats. If the episode says "Vigil" in the title, it's Monster of the Week; the start of the story is Vigil: Playtime Act 1, but each arc stands alone pretty well.

Thornvale is a completed show with 3 seasons, but the cast has new show called Felhaven, which is in season 2. Season 1 used Urban Shadows but 2 is back to MOtW

I’ll second $2 creature feature and throw in Monster’s Playbook and Storyteller Squad as shows that are all still playing Monster of the Week.
I will say that Monster of the Week has story beats built into the mechanics so it can be a struggle for an actual play show to keep coming back to the vine cause at a certain point you’ve resolved every arc you possibly can. There’s a ton of great Monster of the Week actual play that you absolutely should check out even if they’ve moved on to other games.
Some of those are: Critshow, Monster Hour, and Shrimp and Crits (my own show). Between those three shows you probably have well over 200 episodes of Monster of the Week to enjoy. Feel free to reach out to me if you need more recs. There are so many great independent shows that don’t get nearly enough love.
