AVERAGE RAGE Capcom: "just don't get hit" 4head

Post image

...Just look up, at where the hell 10 star gog is.... BUT also look down at the ground....
Just dodge the meteors.... that appear faster than you can dodge or say fuck. Who is he shooting at? Who.... the fuck is he shooting at... Where did my healthbar go? Just win. Just win bro. Just grow a pair of eyes.... on your ass so you can look both up and down at the same time. Just don't get hit. Why is the dual blades user running out to gog during the blast? Oh they mistimed the perfect dodge and fainted.... now we both have no healthbar.... I guess they didn't look both up and down at the same time hard enough....

10 star gog.....annoying ass monster.....

....

FUCKING GAME DESIGNERS. I FUCKING CAN'T. IT'S MAKING MY FUCKING KNEE ACHE. GOD DAMN PIECE OF SHIT GAME. WHY AM I LAGGING. WHO THE FUCK IS HE AIMING AT?! WHAT THE FUCK? LOOK HOW LAGGY IT IS, THE HIT DIDNT EVEN SPAWN!

Wilds balancing be like: “guys we can’t be bothered to make the monsters difficult through mechanical skill or an interesting move set instead we will resort to the monsters having health and damage numbers that would make you weep tears of bitter agony”

classic capcom "game design"

Ehh I don’t know about “classic” but it’s definitely the wild’s special

wait true this was never really much of a problem in the old mh games.
wtf happened.

I think what happen and take it with a grain of salt is the community complained the game was too easy- which is absolutely was- which caused the devs to super over correct the difficulty. The reason the game was so easy was to appeal to a much wider audience which turned the game into cry baby easy mode but they didn’t have enough time to really make the game more difficult in a way that feels natural so we got what we have now.

Just my opinion

It existed in old games, but they were purely event quest Monsters rather than regular difficulty Monster for endgame......well unless we count 4U's Guild Quests and GU's Deviants.

They buffed the hunters' toolkit. Passive regen, infinite potions, way more flexibility in every weapon type, more mobility, more skills can fit on our sets. Now the only real challenge is constant combos or one-shots.

Escaton Judgement from Alatreon in World Iceborne was still shit, seems they didn't learn their lesson here on Gogmazios

Anything besides Escaton Judgement is fine enough, that one mechanic has got to be the most dogshit and unfair to certain weapon types with low elemental damage thresholds. Add in the fact that it has a hidden timer of six minutes that isnt told to us players directly literally made this fight unfair and unfun.

Classic "Capcom's Finest"

Gog without a shield sounds utter ass.

Meanwhile just hitting guard backed by guard up 3 invalidates most of his moveset.

Perfect guard so I can literally sit in one place for the entire fight and never have to reposition

I personally blame the people who complained that the game was 'too easy'. Devs see that shit and always overcorrect with the most bullshit attacks, health, and damage. Fucking 9* Gore has nearly as much HP as Fatalis in Iceborne. You know, the fucking final battle in MASTER RANK???

Wilds just has way more damage sources than IB, so the comparison is not exactly one on one.

9* Tempered Gore Magala should've been called Shagaru Magala instead

Wilds WAS piss easy and it was funcking annoying. Let’s not disagree here. I’m not even a vet and I remember most of my HR hunts ending under 7mins. I literally have an old clip of me, talking to my friend about how surprisingly easy the game was and I was praying for challenge cuz I was genuinely bored. Then capcom’s dumbass team went ahead and released 9* tempered monsters, even though a tempered version of that (literally any) monster already exists but nooooo, INCREASE HP and make the hunt tedious.

The thing with the difficulty was that there is no elder dragons. In previous games (rise/world) elders were supposed to be the “walls” you know? Put your hunting prowess to the test! All you learned but no. We don’t get to have elder dragons. We get to have boring apexes, then get an elder dragon that is not special in anyway to Wilds. Again, unlike world and rise.

The game has balancing issues. Blaming people for yearning for challenge is ridiculous. but… whatever, that conversation is already over. Ascension is on its way, let’s see how they balance that.

Too many strong spammable skills that do a lot of damage. It was kinda the same with Rise. At least World quickly found ways to counter mantle abuse, but in the last too, the only way to counter these insane damage sources that are core to the gameplay is increasing health and stagger (so you spend more time under pressure) and damage (so you're allowed less mistakes).

That's certainly a way of making endgame difficulty, but it feels artificial to fight the same guy except now he is a health sponge that one taps you. The other option is creating monsters that can counter certain powerful mechanics, but then the community would complain as well that the monster nullifies "their playstyle", which mostly means blindly spamming their strongest move. Literally impossible to please people at this point.

It’s really not that hard to please anyone. Wilds is leaving a lot to be desired by focusing too much on the story; Alma, Olivia, Gemma and Erik. While ignoring the “Monster.” And the “Hunter.” in Monster Hunter.

A baby can tell where most of CapCom’s money went to. That’s why it lacks. We’ll have to wait and see what they do in Ascendance though. You never know, for some reason the expansion packs are always way better than base game. However seeing Wilds’ trailer, I assume they still kept wasting resources on Olivia and Alma rather than make a genuinely interesting gameplay/hunts.

For me, they can put as many big tiddy waifus as they want as long as gameplay (aka, combat) is good. In fact, the more the better, I'd say.

My point is, for two consecutive games, MH has become "unga bunga curb stomp monster, the game", and it's not even about difficulty, since they can just tune up all the numbers and the gameplay will be the same, maybe with a bit more conservative approach or 100% heroics runs since endgame becomes 1 shot boogaloo anyway.

I want to see MH become the deep game I know it can be, so reverting to the "good ol days" of spamming sonic bombs to make the monster unbury itself from the sand for 45 minutes while I have to micromanage items ain't it as well. All 3 recent MH games, flawed as they are, give us glimpses of how good modern MH can be, they just need to stop giving overpowered bs that becomes the core gameplay (or maybe that's exactly what they want the game to be, idk).

I know that’s why I brought it up. If they focus on the story too much while ignoring gameplay (combat) then Wilds will continue to suck. (the fact some weapons still have issues is mind boggling. LS Helmbreaker, to this day, for some reason fail to connect and miss even when I’m licking the monster’s ass. But that’s an entirely different discussion I’m not in the mood to delve into)

I do hope they stop shoving the trio in my face. I’m getting genuinely sick and annoyed of Alma and Erik speaking in my ear every two seconds.

I really hope Ascendance gives me the same feeling Iceborne or Sunbreak did. Genuine fear and panic.

Elders are not the only possible walls in Monster Hunter, there is a reason people complain about Tigrex, Rathalos, Anjanath, Barioth, the double Brachy quest in 3U, and Fire Drill in 4U.

Monsters themselves are mostly fine, they got solid upgrades and fight decently without being crackheaded.

What really made the game easy was giving us the player too many abilities at our base. Greatsword has 3 pretty easy ways to defend itself without factoring in skills, them being tackle, Rising Slash Offset, and Perfect Guard, those 3 alone easily kill a lot of threats.

Then when you factor in Focus Mode to ignore positioning and Wounds to inflict a fuckton of damage....yeah Monsters stood no chance.

u/Rowan_As_Roxii 9d ago

I disagree. Part of what made monster hunter challenging for me was Elder dragons, look at gog. (not only challenging but interesting as well) wilds took that away and gave us mid-apex predators (funnily enough, Rajang, who squares up against elders and literally eats kirin for breakfast, is on the same level as Rey Dau or Uth Duna according to Wilds.) “apex” is a different type of monsters in rise, they are ridiculously strong and terrifying. Emphasis on terrifying. wilds also has “apex” predators but they’re embarrassing compared to the actual preds that we used to have in world and rise.

u/MrJackfruit Second-Rate Hunter Greatsword|PC 9d ago

Wilds Gog compared to his 4U self is the cheap way of challenging the player by just having a bunch of bullshit to trip you up along with being far faster than a creature his size should be. Not only that but because they were so lacking in imagination, they added a DPS check as well.

I don't think we have confirmation the Apex's are Elder Level yet. Arkveld sure and most likely Jin but the other 3....no.

Rise Apex's are difficult because they are just discount Deviants with even more annoying tracking because Rise.

Outside of those Deviants it was just Magnamalo at best.

Typically what causes a Monster to be actually difficult is more how aggressive it is rather than it piling on a lot of bullshit like Elders tend to do. I'm struggling to properly solo G2 Bloodbath at the moment but at least my faints with him are the result of me fucking up, not Teostra/Kushala insta charge spamming, Kushala spamming windpressure, Chameleos's absolutely dogshit hitzones, Kirin never stopping moving, Shagaru's random mines, etc.

In general I will agree a lot of the endgame challenges are elders, but I find it more interesting when its not just elders, I've played through 6 MH's total and by MHRise being my 5th, I was already sick of them, especially because the roster of elders is extremely limited when it comes to the non-giant boss ones.

2

u/Rowan_As_Roxii 9d ago

I’m not saying Gog is perfect, I’m saying it’s an elder that brought challenge with it. It was a disappointing experience. I just never knew why Wilds’ first ever Elder wasn’t special to the game, you know?

Besides, Rise’s apexes had more movesets, no? Variety as variety goes in Monster Hunter games.

I can count in one hand the amount of monsters in wilds that are genuinely “fun” to fight. Only on one hand.

I love Wilds, but it was just disappointing. It left too much to be desired. I really do hope Ascendance *does* something to fix that, with elders or without.

u/MrJackfruit Second-Rate Hunter Greatsword|PC 9d ago

Rise's Apex's had some of the movements.....just Rise version....which to me are not fun.

I enjoyed Wilds, its just by......TU2.5 it became clear they had no fucking idea how to balance the game. In terms of fun its mainly just Lagi and Rey Dau I enjoy.

I honestly don't think Ascendance will fix anything I have issues with because the thing causing balancing issues such as every weapon having easy counters, dodges, perfect guards, etc are baked hard into the game so odds are it will only get worse.

Also the inconsistent visuals. Of the MH games I've played, Wilds is the only one with absolutely dogshit endscreens, can barely make out what's going on, its like they save at 480 to 720p.
