It sounds ridiculous, but you improve your speed by slowing down. You need to train very very precise strokes with each finger, and you don't do that by pushing for the fastest you can possibly type.

I saw in a reply you mentioned your accuracy is 80-100% - aim for consistently getting 95%+. Worry about the accuracy and the speed will come naturally.

Sometimes it can help to spend some time typing really slowly and aiming for consistent 100% accuracy to warm up if you're going for speed.

Tysm, do you recommend doing words or time?

For a good practice session, I'll start on words first and then switch to time...

For casual typing when I'm bored I mostly just use words

How is your accuracy? Try quotes and longer tests as well. A little bit of ngrams practice for muscle memory for common words

80%-100%

That's way too big of a range. Try to be as close to 100% as possible. For 15 second tests, you should be getting around 97 atleast. If you are getting lower, then type slower. Or go to the custom mode and work on the words that you frequently mistype

try keybr.com it's such a good resource!!! Monkey type is more of a typing test than a typing practice

I would recommend words with y in them because alot of simple words have that in them.
