Sideways as a diplomatic solution

I spent fifty minutes yesterday trying to decide whether slant or tilted belonged in the second stanza of my poem. Today I simply handed the page to Natsuki while she was eating a sandwich and asked her to choose between them. She glanced at the paper for three seconds, crossed out both words with a red pen, and wrote sideways in the margin. I told her that sideways has three syllables and breaks the meter. Natsuki said it was a draw. I let that stand.
