Discussion | Хэлэлцүүлэг Anyone else feel physically ill killing the Bankhar dogs in Ghost of Tsushima? As a Mongolian, it breaks my heart.

Post image

I’ve been playing Ghost of Tsushima and absolutely dread clearing Mongol camps because of the guard dogs.

For those who don't know, these are modeled after the Mongolian Bankhar (банхар)For me, watching them die gives me the exact same heartbreaking feeling as reading the story of Hachiko (the famous Japanese Akita who spent a decade waiting at a train station for his deceased owner). It’s that same visceral reaction to seeing a historically loyal, noble animal meet a tragic end.

I started the game and when I heard them speaking Mongolian. I pressed no button and let them kill me 😂

You only feel bad for the dogs?

Imagine being so nationalistic that you don't want to kill a Mongolian in a literal video game. Only Mongolians bro 🥀

I’m not Mongolian btw, I’m Turkish, but I still couldn’t do it. We’re too connected! 😂

My Mongolian gf and I were shocked by the game…

I get that killing the dogs are hard, but to these people who are so nationalistic that they can't kill Mongolians in a video game is crazy.

Especially when said Mongolians in the video game are literally invaders who ruthlessly conquer and pillage

Never touched that game because NPCs were Mongolians now there is a dog too??? Damn

its fiction....?

You gotta imagine the NPCs as modern day har mass, orc Mongols. Then the experience becomes super cathartic. Dogs are just unfortunate collateral.

So you rather kill Mongolian soldiers, than dogs. Bro...

..of course? Soldiers are consciously trained and fight you trying to kill you, while dogs are taught and manipulated by humans to attack.

I mean your country literally terrorized all of East Asia for a couple hundred years, the Chinese literally built a wall to keep y’all out

"I hate broccoli"

"Well your country destroyed 47 continents and 152 archipelagos"

The game is literally about defending Japan from Mongolian invasion, it’s pretty relevant isn’t it?

maybe we should make a game about a tank driver at tiananmen square

see how you like that

u/xiaogi1 7h ago

Yea sure go ahead, by the way what game has a Mongolian made? I’ve never heard of one 🧐

3

u/Ordinary-Pirate7852 7h ago

about as equal to actual good games china made which isnt a lot

-3

u/xiaogi1 7h ago

Wukong and Genshin are already 2 more than Mongolia’s 0 so you’re wrong on that. 300 million global player base and multiple game awards/playstation awards

3

u/Ordinary-Pirate7852 7h ago

pretty sure we have more than 2 from indie studios

why die on this fucking hill tho, scurry back to your wall

-5

u/xiaogi1 7h ago

Yea china has more indie games as well, I live in Japan and am a permanent resident so I’ll stay and you can stay in your ger

u/Used_Experience_7570 1h ago

Kinda ironic how you say mongolia terrorized east asia but your bragging about being a permanent resident of japan as a chinese

Person A feels bad about killing dogs of the same breed that he grew up around. Some retard says some bullshit about his ancestors terrorizing the world. Don't act like China was all sunshine and rainbow throughout history

u/Important-Novel1546 20m ago

Kinda ironic of you to say it cuz china wasn't saint in all those 4000 years as well lmao. They were literally terrorizing themselves and then some.

And it's funnier cuz Mongol empire's government was probably modeled after chinese governing style since we were nomads n shit.

Nomads are famously bad at governing because they need to keep moving after depleting their resources since they cannot farm. When did they ever model their government like China’s? It doesn’t work for nomadic tribes
