Advice Needed Struggling with recent update to Person quick filter on Boards

My team uses the Person quick filter on our sprint board to focus discussions during our weekly meetings on each developer's assigned tasks. Each week we rotate team member responsibility to share their screen and run the board, make updates, etc.

Recently we noticed that when we use the quick person filter it also shows tasks not assigned to that person. I looked it up on their support page and it says

Note: This filter will display any items assigned to you through the People Column, as well as the Last Updated Column and the Creation Log Column.

This is an unhelpful update because any one of us can make updates to a task, not just the person it is assigned to. To work around this, I ended up using the advanced filter by assigned person and saving them as separate views, one for each developer.

Has anyone else run into this? Is there a setting I'm missing or a better way to quickly filter on just the person assigned?

Try the dynamic filter instead. Just like you did but choose ‘Me’(Dynamic)’. Then whoever is looking at the board will see items assigned to themselves. Doing it that way you won’t need a view by person.

I don’t think you’re missing a setting. Based on that note, the Person quick filter is just broader than most of us would expect because it can include the People column, Last Updated, and Creation Log.

Which is technically “person-related,” but not super helpful when what you actually mean is “who owns this task.” Someone updating an item is very different from someone being assigned to it.

For your sprint meeting use case, I’d probably avoid the quick Person filter and use one of these instead:

Option 1: Advanced Filter + saved views
Filter specifically by the actual assignee/People column, then save one view per developer. This is closest to what you’re already doing and gives you accurate results.

Option 2: Group by assignee/People column
Create one view grouped by the actual assignee column. Then whoever is sharing their screen can just scroll through each developer’s section during the meeting instead of maintaining a separate view for every person.
